Product Overview

The Adder AVSD1002-US is an EAL4+ certified secure 2-port KVM switch that lets one operator move between a high-security and a low-security computer — classic red/black network separation — using a single keyboard, dual-link DVI-I monitor, mouse, and speakers. This 2-port USB DVI secure KVM switch is engineered so sensitive data cannot leak between ports, escape via emissions, or be stored in the device itself. It is the compact choice when a Common Criteria certified KVM switch is required at a two-domain desktop.

Product Description

Two-network desktops are common in defense, intelligence, and critical infrastructure settings, and the switch between them must be as trustworthy as the networks' own boundaries. The AdderView Secure Digital AVSD1002 was independently tested against Common Criteria, achieving EAL4+, with every isolation mechanism enforced in hardware.

Hard-wired data diodes enforce uni-directional keyboard and mouse data paths, so isolation never depends on trusting microprocessor software and timing-analysis or forced-malfunction attacks are defeated by design. At every channel change the HID processor is powered down and reset, eliminating shared-RAM leakage, while separate limited-access memories hold Num, Caps, and Scroll lock states and all buffers are actively cleared after use.

Each port's circuitry draws power independently from its own USB lead, blocking power-line signaling between the two systems, and 60dB crosstalk isolation with extensive shielding limits any inter-system signal transfer to under 1/1000th. One-time programmable storage replaces flash memory in all security-critical areas, USB ports accept only keyboards and mice with hotkeys disabled, and microphone connections are omitted entirely. The unit continuously self-checks and halts with an error light on any unexpected interaction. Full dual-link DVI bandwidth supports up to 2560x1600@60Hz, with analog video to 1920x1200@60Hz through the DVI-I connector, and the low-order video bit is randomized against snooping. Need four ports? The AVSD1004-US shares the same certified architecture — find both in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • EAL4+ and EAL2+ Certified — Independently evaluated to Common Criteria for switching between red and black networks.
  • Hardwired Data Diodes — One-way keyboard and mouse paths are guaranteed by circuitry, not software, eliminating whole classes of attack.
  • No Shared RAM Between Ports — The HID processor powers down and resets on every switchover; data buffers are actively cleared.
  • One-Time Programmable Firmware — Security-critical storage cannot be reflashed, preventing subversive reprogramming.
  • 60dB Crosstalk Isolation — Shielded enclosure and circuitry hold inter-system signal transfer below 1/1000th.
  • Independent Port Power — Per-port USB-derived power blocks power-line signaling between connected computers.
  • Restricted USB, No Microphone — Keyboards and mice only, hotkeys disabled, and no microphone path that could record crosstalk.
  • Continuous Self-Verification — Operation pauses and an error light shows on any unanticipated internal interaction.
  • Dual-Link DVI-I Video — Digital video to 2560x1600@60Hz and analog to 1920x1200@60Hz, with low-order bit randomization.

Typical Applications

  • Government space — two-domain desktops spanning classified and unclassified networks.
  • Commercial meeting space — secure facilities where dual-network room PCs share one console.
  • Training room — certified separation between operational and training systems at instructor positions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the AVSD1002-US suitable for classified/unclassified switching?
It is designed for exactly that role and is Common Criteria EAL4+ and EAL2+ certified. Confirm acceptance of the certification with your information assurance authority.

Can I connect one DVI computer and one VGA computer?
Yes. The DVI-I interface carries both digital and analog video; VGA sources connect via an appropriate DVI-I to VGA adapter at up to 1920x1200@60Hz.

Why can't I switch channels from the keyboard?
Hotkey switching is disabled by design so the unit can only be controlled directly at its front panel, eliminating peripheral-based manipulation of the security boundary.

Will a USB headset or flash drive work on the console ports?
No. The USB ports support keyboards and mice only; all other device classes, including storage, are actively prohibited.

How is firmware integrity protected?
One-time programmable storage replaces flash memory in all security-critical areas, and the switch continuously checks its own operation, halting with an error indication on any fault.

What if I need more than two ports?
The 4-port AVSD1004-US uses the same certified architecture. Both models are stocked in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
