Product Overview
The Adder AVS-4214 is an ADDERView Secure 4-port dual-head KVM switch that lets a single operator control four computers spanning multiple security classification levels from one keyboard, mouse, dual displays, and audio output. Built as a NIAP PP 4.0 certified secure KVM switch, it shares single or dual-head 4K video up to 3840x2160@60Hz over dual-mode DisplayPort/HDMI connections while enforcing strict isolation between channels. For agencies and enterprises that need a TAA compliant KVM switch for classified networks, the AVS-4214 combines certified security with everyday desktop usability.
Product Description
Secure desktops in defense, intelligence, and finance environments frequently require simultaneous access to networks of different classifications without any path for data to cross between them. The AVS-4214 addresses this with hardware-enforced isolation: the keyboard and mouse processor is powered down and reset at every switchover to defeat shared-RAM leakage, all data buffers are actively cleared after use, and uni-directional optical data diodes enforce one-way computer-to-speaker audio flow that blocks eavesdropping and line-in re-tasking.

Each of the four computer channels provides two dual-mode DisplayPort 1.2 video inputs (DP+HDMI capable) and a USB 2.0 connection with HID emulation, while the console side drives two displays at up to 4K60 with 8-bit color. USB console ports accept only human interface devices; storage drives and other non-HID peripherals are actively prohibited. Operators can switch with configurable front-panel LED buttons, read channel status on the built-in e-paper display, or use the configurable automatic switching mode to change channels by moving the mouse across screen borders while pressing Ctrl. An audio hold function pins audio to one computer while the operator works on another — useful for monitoring alerts across networks.

Holographic anti-tamper labels give immediate visual evidence if the enclosure has been opened, supporting audit and chain-of-custody requirements. The switch is NIAP Protection Profile 4.0 certified, TAA compliant, and assembled in the USA. Browse companion secure accessories and the full Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- NIAP PP 4.0 Certification — Independently certified to the current Protection Profile for peripheral sharing devices, meeting procurement requirements for classified environments.
- Dual-Head 4K60 Video — Two dual-mode DisplayPort 1.2 console outputs deliver up to 3840x2160@60Hz per screen for high-resolution multi-monitor work.
- No Shared RAM Between Ports — The keyboard/mouse processor resets at every switchover and buffers are actively cleared, eliminating data remanence between channels.
- Uni-Directional Audio Diodes — Optical data diodes enforce one-way audio flow, preventing speaker-to-computer signaling and eavesdropping.
- Restricted USB Function — Console USB ports accept only HID devices; mass storage and other peripherals are actively blocked in hardware.
- Hardware Anti-Tampering — Holographic tamper-evident labels provide clear visual indication if the enclosure has been compromised.
- Configurable Automatic Switching — Switch KVM plus audio by moving the mouse across screen borders with the Ctrl key, reducing operator workload.
- Audio Hold — Keep audio assigned to one computer while controlling another, so alarms and comms are never missed.
- E-Paper Status Display — Front-panel display and four multi-color LEDs give real-time, at-a-glance channel identification.
- TAA Compliant, Assembled in USA — Suitable for US federal procurement programs.
Typical Applications
- Government space desktops accessing multiple classified networks
- Commercial meeting space positions requiring isolated network access
- Boardroom workstations bridging corporate and restricted systems
- Training room consoles teaching across segregated networks

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the AVS-4214 drive both DisplayPort and HDMI monitors?
Yes. The video ports are dual-mode DisplayPort 1.2 (DP++), so HDMI displays and sources can be connected using appropriate adapter cables.
Is it approved for classified environments?
The switch is NIAP Protection Profile 4.0 certified and TAA compliant, which are the standard requirements for secure KVM procurement in US government programs. Confirm accreditation requirements with your security authority.
How does it prevent data leakage between computers?
Channels are isolated in hardware: the keyboard/mouse processor resets at each switchover, buffers are cleared after use, audio passes through one-way optical data diodes, and USB ports reject non-HID devices.
Does it support smart card or CAC authentication?
Adder offers the AS-4CR Secure Card Reader and AS-4RCU Remote Control Unit as companion accessories for ADDERView Secure 4-port switches.
Can users switch channels without pressing buttons?
Yes. A configurable automatic switching mode changes KVM and audio when the mouse crosses a screen border while the Ctrl key is held; front-panel buttons remain available.
What operating systems are supported?
Windows, Linux, and macOS are supported, and the switch works with all known operating systems without drivers.
