Product Overview

The Adder AVS-4114 is a NIAP PP 4.0 certified secure KVM switch that lets one operator share a single-head 4K display, USB keyboard and mouse, plus analog audio across four computers spanning multiple security classification levels. Built for government and defense desktops, this 4-port secure KVM switch supports DisplayPort or HDMI video at up to 3840x2160 @ 60Hz through dual-mode DP/HDMI ports. As a TAA-compliant secure desktop KVM assembled in the USA, it provides hardware-enforced isolation between networks while keeping the operator's desk to a single console.

Product Description

The AVS-4114 is engineered for environments where computers on different classification levels must be operated from one desk without any risk of data leakage between domains. Each of the four computer channels presents a dual-mode DP/HDMI video port (DisplayPort 1.2 dual mode), a USB Type-B port with HID emulation, and a 3.5mm audio input; the console side provides a dual-mode DP/HDMI output, two USB Type-A HID ports and 3.5mm audio output.

Security is enforced in hardware. Uni-directional optical data diodes force audio and data paths to flow one way only, preventing eavesdropping and line-in re-tasking. There is no shared RAM between ports: the keyboard and mouse processor powers down and resets at every switchover, and data buffers are actively cleared after use. The USB ports accept only HID devices, actively prohibiting storage drives, and holographic anti-tamper labels give clear visual evidence if the enclosure has been opened. The switch continually runs integrity checks; if unexpected behavior is detected it immediately ceases operation, locks all ports and flashes the channel indicators.

Usability matches the security: four multi-color status LED buttons and an e-paper status display keep channel identity unambiguous, an optional configuration enables automatic switching by moving the mouse across the screen border while pressing Ctrl, and audio hold lets the operator monitor sound from one computer while working on another. An RJ12 serial port supports the optional Adder secure remote control unit. Pair the AVS-4114 with other secure switching and extension hardware in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • NIAP PP 4.0 Certified — Independently certified to the current Protection Profile for peripheral sharing devices, with TAA compliance and US assembly.
  • 4K Single-Head Video — Dual-mode DP/HDMI ports support DisplayPort or HDMI sources at up to 3840x2160 @ 60Hz.
  • Uni-Directional Data Diodes — Optical diodes enforce one-way signal flow, blocking speaker-to-computer paths that could leak data.
  • No Shared RAM Between Ports — The keyboard/mouse processor resets at each switchover and buffers are cleared to thwart cross-domain leakage.
  • Restricted USB Function — Console USB ports accept HID devices only; mass-storage devices are actively prohibited.
  • Hardware Anti-Tampering — Holographic tamper-evident labels and continuous internal integrity checks that lock all ports on any anomaly.
  • Audio Hold — Keep audio assigned to one computer while switching KVM control to another.
  • Operator-Friendly Front Panel — Four configurable multi-color LED buttons and an e-paper display provide real-time channel status.

Typical Applications

  • Government space desks operating across multiple classification levels
  • Commercial meeting space positions requiring isolated network access
  • Training room consoles teaching on segregated networks

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the AVS-4114 approved for classified environments?
The switch is NIAP Protection Profile 4.0 certified and TAA compliant, the benchmark certification used by US federal and defense procurement for peripheral sharing devices. Confirm accreditation requirements with your security authority.

Can I mix DisplayPort and HDMI computers?
Yes. Each computer port is a dual-mode DP/HDMI connection (DisplayPort 1.2 dual mode), so sources can use either interface with the appropriate cabling.

Does it support dual monitors?
No — the AVS-4114 is the single-head model. Adder offers the AVS-4214 dual-head variant; contact Creation Networks for availability.

Can I attach a smart card or CAC reader?
Adder offers a secure card reader (AS-4CR) designed for its NIAP PP 4.0 switch family; the AVS-4114 itself restricts console USB ports to HID devices.

How does automatic switching work?
As a configuration option, the operator can switch channels (KVM plus audio) by moving the mouse across the screen border while holding the Ctrl key.

Can the switch be mounted away from the desk?
Yes. The optional Adder secure remote control unit (AS-4RCU) connects via the RJ12 port so the switch can live in a rack or under the desk, and the RMK13 rackmount kit is available.

What happens if tampering is detected?
The switch runs continuous integrity checks; any unexpected behavior causes it to cease operation immediately, lock all ports and flash all channel button indicators.
