Product Overview
The Adder AVM-C12-US is a 12-port preconfigured network switch for the ADDERView Matrix KVM product line, based on the NETGEAR GSM4212P (M4250 series) and shipped ready for plug-and-play KVM matrix deployment with a US power cable. Arriving preconfigured with IGMP v2, snooping, and jumbo frames up to 9216 bytes, this KVM matrix network switch removes the network engineering step that often delays IP KVM projects. With ten Gigabit RJ45 ports — eight of them PoE (802.3af) with a 125W budget — plus two SFP ports for fiber extension, it is the recommended backbone for small ADDERView Matrix C-Range systems.
Product Description
IP KVM matrices depend on correctly configured multicast networking; a misconfigured switch is the most common cause of failed deployments. Adder solves this by supplying the NETGEAR GSM4212P preconfigured for ADDERView Matrix out of the box: connect your AVM transmitters and user stations and the matrix simply works.

The switch provides 10x Gigabit RJ45 link ports and 2x SFP cages. Eight RJ45 ports deliver IEEE 802.3af PoE from a 125W total budget, powering PoE-capable AVM endpoints (such as the AVM-C1100 user station) over the link cable with no local supplies. The SFP ports accept fiber transceivers, so extension is not limited to 100m of copper — single-mode modules reach kilometers between equipment rooms.

Physically, this is a 1U rack-mount unit with an internal power supply, supplied with standard rack brackets, longer brackets for recessed mounting, rubber feet for tabletop use, and a country-specific IEC mains cable. Typical draw is a modest 18W (164W maximum with full PoE load). For larger systems, Adder also offers the 30-port AVM-C30; other switches meeting Adder's minimum specification can be used, but the AVM-C12 ships validated and configured. Pair it with ADDERView Matrix transmitters, receivers, and SFP modules from our Adder Technology collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why buy the AVM-C12 instead of a generic Gigabit switch?
The AVM-C12 arrives preconfigured with the IGMP v2, snooping, and jumbo-frame settings the ADDERView Matrix requires, validated by Adder. Other switches meeting the minimum specification can work but must be configured manually.
Which Adder devices can it power over PoE?
Eight ports supply IEEE 802.3af power from a 125W budget, suitable for PoE-capable ADDERView Matrix endpoints such as the AVM-C1100-USR-POE user station. Confirm per-device draw against the total budget when planning.
Can I extend the matrix over fiber?
Yes. The two SFP cages accept 1GbE transceivers — Adder offers single-mode (up to 20km), multi-mode (up to 550m), and RJ45 SFP modules — so distance is not limited to 100m of copper.
Is it rack mountable?
Yes. It is a 1U unit and ships with standard brackets, longer recessed-mount brackets, and rubber feet for tabletop placement.
What if I need more than 12 ports?
Adder offers the AVM-C30, a 30-port version (26x RJ45 + 4x SFP) with a 300W PoE budget. Contact Creation Networks for system sizing assistance.
Does the US version differ in hardware?
No. The -US suffix indicates the included US mains cable; the switch hardware and configuration are identical across regions.
