Product Overview
The Adder ALIF100T-VGA is a ZeroU IP KVM transmitter that puts VGA video, USB, and audio from a host computer onto standard 1GbE network infrastructure, extending or matrixing the machine away from the user environment. Part of the ADDERLink INFINITY family, this USB-powered KVM-over-IP transmitter draws under 3W in typical use and needs no rack space, no external PSU, and no software — it simply hangs from the host's VGA and USB ports. With AIM management, the same dongle becomes a node in a scalable IP KVM matrix connecting any workstation to any computer on the network.
Product Description
Legacy VGA computers remain in service across control, production, and institutional environments, and the ALIF100T-VGA brings them into a modern IP KVM deployment without adapters or rack hardware. The compact ABS-and-aluminium dongle measures just 55 x 25 x 110mm with a 300mm flying lead, occupying zero rack units at the source.

Video is encoded with Adder's spatially lossless system using 1:1 pixel mapping, so the image delivered across the network at up to 1920x1200@60Hz is pixel-perfect and color accurate — the digital video received matches the video leaving the computer, with support for dithered video from sources such as certain Mac models. Power arrives over the two USB 2.0 connections (2x 500mA at 5V), eliminating PSU provisioning, with external and redundant power options available where required.

USB support extends beyond keyboards and mice to graphics tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks, and 3D explorers, and class control can disable non-HID devices in secure deployments — no physical port blocking required. Bi-directional 16-bit/48kHz USB stereo audio travels digitally across the network, and intelligent EDID management passes true monitor characteristics back to the host. Devices ship in a zero-config state for plug-and-play point-to-point links over CAT5e up to 100m, and pairing the system with ADDERLink INFINITY Management (AIM) scales it into a full digital KVM matrix. A calculated MTBF of 2,000,000 hours underlines its suitability for continuous duty. Find INFINITY receivers and management appliances in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- ZeroU Form Factor — Compact dongle occupies no rack space, hanging directly from the host computer's ports.
- USB Powered, Under 3W Typical — Draws power from two USB 2.0 connections, cutting PSU provisioning and cooling load; external/redundant PSU options available.
- Pixel-Perfect Video — Spatially lossless encoding with 1:1 pixel mapping delivers color-accurate VGA video up to 1920x1200@60Hz with no artifacts.
- Dithered Video Support — Passes analog or noisy video and dithered output from computers such as certain Macs.
- USB 2.0 with Class Control — Supports tablets, jog shuttles, joysticks, and 3D explorers; non-HID classes can be disabled for secure sites.
- Digital USB Audio — Bi-directional 16-bit/48kHz stereo line in/out carried across the network.
- Matrix-Ready with AIM — Adding ADDERLink INFINITY Management turns point-to-point extenders into a scalable any-to-any IP KVM matrix.
- Intelligent EDID Management — True monitor characteristics pass back to the computer for correct video output without configuration.
- Zero-Config Plug and Play — Ships ready to connect; no drivers or software installation.
- Exceptional Reliability — Calculated MTBF of 2,000,000 hours (Telcordia SR332), rated to 50°C operating.
Typical Applications
- Broadcast studio — bring legacy VGA playout and automation machines onto the IP KVM matrix.
- Government space — extend secured computers to operator positions over managed network infrastructure.
- Training room — deliver centralized lab machines to instructor and student consoles over the LAN.
- Commercial meeting space — relocate aging VGA sources to equipment rooms while rooms stay clean.
- Auditorium — keep show-control and presentation PCs backstage with network-based console access.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ALIF100T-VGA need its own power supply?
No. It is powered from the host's two USB 2.0 ports (2x 500mA at 5V). An external 5VDC option and redundant powering are available if your host cannot supply USB power.
What do I need at the user end?
An ADDERLink INFINITY receiver completes the link, connecting the user's monitor, keyboard, mouse, and audio over the network. Contact Creation Networks for the right receiver model for your deployment.
Can it operate over my existing network?
Yes. The unit uses standard 1GbE IP infrastructure over CAT5e or better, up to 100m per link, and ships zero-config for point-to-point use.
How does it scale beyond point-to-point extension?
Adding the ADDERLink INFINITY Management (AIM) appliance converts multiple transmitters and receivers into a digital KVM matrix where any workstation can connect to any computer.
Is it appropriate for secure facilities?
USB class control can disable non-HID devices system-wide, so storage devices are blocked without physically capping ports. Confirm policy requirements with your security authority.
What operating systems are supported?
All known operating systems — the transmitter is transparent to the host and requires no drivers or software.
Where can I get design help for an INFINITY matrix?
Creation Networks supports IP KVM system design and supplies the full Adder Technology range, including receivers, AIM managers, and PoE accessories.
