Product Overview
The Adder AL-IPEPS-DA is a dual access KVM-over-IP unit that lets IT teams remotely access and control critical computing hardware over a standard IP network while keeping a local console at the rack. With VGA and PS/2 connections plus RealVNC client software, this remote server management unit serves one local user and up to four remote users at the same time. It is a proven choice for secure remote computer access to legacy servers, industrial controllers, and infrastructure machines that must remain reachable even when the operating system is down.
Product Description
The ADDERLink ipeps DA (Dual Access) sits between your server and your network, publishing VGA video and PS/2 keyboard/mouse control to authorized remote users over 10/100 Ethernet. Unlike single-access IP gateways, the DA model also provides dedicated KVM ports for a local console, so on-site technicians retain full hands-on control while remote engineers work from anywhere. Up to four remote users can connect concurrently, and administrators can define 16 user profiles with specific access rights.

Because the unit operates independently of the controlled computer, remote users keep full control during boot-up, BIOS-level configuration, and crash states — the moments when software remote tools fail. RealVNC delivers scalable viewing of standard PC, Sun, and Mac video modes at resolutions up to 1600x1200. A virtual media port allows files to be transferred over IP through the ipeps and onto the target computer, simplifying patching and recovery on isolated machines.

For larger estates, ADDER.NET enterprise management software provides a centralized, secure user access management interface. The compact metal chassis measures just 120 x 42 x 75 mm and ships with a VKVM-1M KVM cable set and USB converter plugs. Pair it with other remote access and extension products in the Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does "dual access" mean on the AL-IPEPS-DA?
The unit provides KVM ports for a local console in addition to network access, so one local user and up to four remote users can work with the connected computer at the same time.
Can I use it with USB-only computers?
The KVM connections are VGA and PS/2, and the unit ships with USB converter plugs along with the VKVM-1M cable set for connection flexibility.
Does it work when the server has crashed or is in BIOS?
Yes. As a hardware KVM-over-IP gateway it operates independently of the controlled computer, so remote control is maintained during boot-up, BIOS access, and crash states.
Can I transfer files to the remote computer?
Yes. The unit supports virtual media, acting as a conduit so files can be passed over IP onto the target computer through a virtual media port.
How is user access managed across multiple units?
ADDER.NET enterprise management software provides a centralized, secure interface where up to 16 user profiles with defined access rights can be created.
