Like the rest of the Invisible Series from Sonance, the IS8 uses Motion Flex Technology, pairing an 8-inch carbon fiber Air Flex Woofer (191 in² diaphragm) with a Wave Flex Drive Unit (29 in² bending wave diaphragm) inside an acoustically isolated baffle. It handles 160 watts RMS at 6 ohms nominal with a 40Hz–30kHz frequency response and 86dB sensitivity, giving it more headroom and low-end extension than the IS6 while keeping the same 170-degree hemispherical dispersion for even room coverage. The IS8 installs into drywall, select plasters, wallpaper, leather, or wood veneer and accepts up to 3mm of topping compound, so the finished wall or ceiling shows no visible driver or grille. Sonance CDX Crossover Design is built in to maintain tonal balance across the frequency range, and the DISC calibration system standardizes mounting depth across a multi-speaker installation. For larger residential entryways, living rooms, and multipurpose rooms, the IS8 is commonly specified as the primary Invisible Series model, with Invisible Series subwoofers added where deeper bass extension is required.
