Samsung Outdoor, Window & Terrace Displays (20 products)

Samsung makes three different kinds of high-brightness display, and they are not interchangeable: OH Series outdoor signage, OM Series window displays that face outward through glass, and The Terrace outdoor TVs built for people to sit and watch. What separates them is where the screen physically sits, how bright it has to be, and whether anyone is watching it or just glancing at it.

Which one does your application need?

OH Series — fully outdoor signage. Mounted outside, exposed to rain, snow and direct sun. For wayfinding, drive-thru, transit information and any screen running unattended all day. Weather-rated chassis with the thermal management to handle solar load.

OM Series — window and semi-outdoor displays. Mounted inside and facing outward through the glass. Ultra-high brightness so the content reads against daylight on the other side of the window. Dual-sided versions show different content inward and outward. This is the storefront and retail frontage range.

The Terrace — outdoor TVs. QLED and Neo QLED in a weatherproof chassis, for hospitality patios, poolside bars, stadium suites and residential terraces. Built for watching content rather than reading information.

The window display problem

A normal display behind glass fails for a reason people underestimate: it is competing with the sun falling on the outside of that window, and the glass itself reflects. A 500-nit commercial panel is invisible from the pavement at midday.

OM Series runs several times that brightness and includes the thermal design to survive sitting in a sunlit window — which is its own problem, since a sealed shop window is effectively a greenhouse. An ordinary display in that position overheats before it is dim enough to matter.

Dual-sided OM models solve a separate problem: a screen in a window that serves customers outside and staff or browsers inside, without two displays back to back.

Partial sun or full sun on The Terrace

  • Partial sun — covered patios, porches and awnings, shaded for most of the day.
  • Full sun — higher brightness for positions with no shade.

Walk the site at the hour the screen will actually be used. A patio that reads as shaded at 10am may take direct afternoon sun, and that is when people are out there.

Brightness is the specification that decides everything

Indoor displays run a few hundred nits. Anything facing daylight needs several thousand, and a south-facing position needs more than a north-facing one. Under-specifying produces a screen that looks fine at dusk and disappears at midday — half the hours it needs to work.

Weather and thermal rating covers more than rain

An IP rating addresses water and dust, but outdoor and in-window installations also face solar heat load, freeze-thaw cycling, salt air near the coast and insects. This is why an indoor display in an outdoor enclosure is not an equivalent solution — it fails on thermal management first, usually in the first hot week.

Planning the installation

Outdoor screens need a power supply rated for the position, weather-rated cable routing, and a mount matched to the structure. Window displays need a mounting method that works with the glazing and shopfront, and clearance for airflow behind the panel.

Where a screen is visible from a public right of way, a signage permit may apply — and that runs longer than the equipment lead time. Dust covers are available for The Terrace and are worth ordering with the screen for seasonal use.
