Wall plates are the part that gets missed

Metal stud wall plates spread a mount's load across two or three studs, which is what makes a large display safe on steel-stud construction. They are matched to specific mount series and stud centres — 16, 20 or 24 inch — so the plate has to be chosen against both the mount and the wall, not just one.

On any display above roughly 55 inches on steel studs, the wall plate is a requirement rather than an accessory. It is also the item most often discovered missing on install day, because it does not carry the mount's part number.

The parts that hold up an install

Most of what is on this page gets ordered late and found during installation. A cathedral ceiling plate for an angled ceiling, an adapter bracket for an LG OLED with a non-standard rear profile, an escutcheon ring to finish a column penetration cleanly, an in-wall box to recess power and AV behind the screen — none of these are part of the mount's own part number, and all of them stop a job.

Pull the ceiling type, wall construction and exact display model off the drawings before ordering the mount, and the component list writes itself.

Cart and stand accessories

Laptop trays, glass shelves, grab handles and corner bumpers mount to SmartMount SR carts and SS stands. Specify these with the cart — a training room cart without a shelf for the codec is a cart that gets a codec balanced on top of it.

Display handling

Display handling kits and replacement pads let a crew safely position a large panel during installation. On video walls and anything above about 75 inches, they are a safety item rather than a convenience.
