NETGEAR software licences and hardware support contracts for M-Series switches, Align controllers, access points and security appliances. These are the line items that sit alongside the hardware on a purchase order and are most often left off it.

Support contracts

Per-model support covering the M4250, M4350, M4300 and M4500 switch families, WBE-series WiFi access points and PR-series routers. Contracts are model-specific — a GSM4248PX contract does not cover a GSM4248P — so match the part number on the switch, not the family name. Worth specifying on any switch carrying PoE endpoints that cannot go dark: paging, intercom, life-safety displays, or a room in daily use.

Software licences

AVB and Ethernet Audio/Video licences unlock AV transport features on compatible switches, and the Align Controller premium licence covers the AV management platform. The Exium security licence adds SASE, firewall and XDR services to PR-series routers. A licence is tied to a single switch, so a multi-switch deployment needs one per unit.

Specifying coverage

Match the contract term to the refresh cycle of the system rather than buying a default length, and check whether an AV feature you are relying on needs a licence before the switch ships — retrofitting one after commissioning means a second purchase order and a second visit.
