SFSU Mashouf Wellness Center Video Wall

Q: What does a nationwide AV integrator actually manage?

A nationwide AV integrator manages the full lifecycle across every site: technology standards, site surveys, engineering documentation, procurement, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support — not just equipment sales.

Q: How is a nationwide rollout different from a single-site AV project?

A single-site project designs for one room's conditions. A nationwide rollout defines approved room archetypes (huddle, conference, boardroom, training, etc.) that get applied consistently, with documented exceptions for site-specific constraints like room size or network policy.

Q: Do all rooms need identical equipment?

No. Standardization applies at the archetype level — a small huddle room and a large boardroom should follow different technology packages, but each package should be repeatable across every site that fits that archetype.

Q: Why does network readiness matter for AV projects?

AV-over-IP video, conferencing appliances, control processors, and digital signage all run as networked devices. Without early planning for VLANs, PoE budgets, and security policy, a well-specified system can still underperform once it's installed.

Q: What happens after installation?

Commissioning tests the system under real conditions — video routing, mic pickup, DSP tuning, and conferencing workflows — before handoff. After that, ongoing support (monitoring, maintenance, escalation) keeps performance consistent as firmware, platforms, and room use evolve.

INTRODUCTION

San Francisco State University’s Mashouf Wellness Center is the campus health and recreation facility serving students, faculty, and staff.

Creation Networks partnered with San Francisco State University to replace the video wall system in the Mashouf Wellness Center, engineering, programming, and installing a new Planar LCD video wall with a protective coating to withstand the high-traffic recreational environment.

This project reflects Creation Networks’ ongoing relationship with SFSU, which has included multiple AV projects on campus over the years.

PROJECT NAME
SFSU Mashouf Wellness Center

LOCATION
San Francisco, CA

CHALLENGE

The Mashouf Wellness Center needed a replacement video wall solution that would:

Withstand the humidity and activity of a high-traffic recreation and wellness facility.
Deliver bright, seamless imagery across a large viewing area.
Replace the previous video wall system with minimal disruption to the facility.
Provide reliable, long-term operation with simple management for university staff.

THE SOLUTION

Creation Networks deinstalled the wellness center’s prior video wall and installed a new 7-wide by 1-high Planar LX55M-L-ERO LCD video wall with a protective coating option, driven by a Planar VC9 video wall processor.

THE TECHNOLOGY

The installation features the following video wall hardware:

Video Wall & Processing

Planar LX55M-L-ERO LCD video wall panels (Qty 7) in a 7-wide by 1-high configuration, with protective coating
Planar VC9 video wall processor
Remote power supply for the video wall system

All components were installed and programmed by Creation Networks.

RESULTS

The replacement video wall provides the Mashouf Wellness Center with:

A durable, protective-coated display suited to a high-traffic wellness facility.
Bright, seamless large-format imagery across the wall.
Reliable operation since installation.
