The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe resort’s aging AV infrastructure included legacy Symetrix DSPs handling background music, paging, room combining, and conferencing across multiple zones. As part of broader property enhancements, the ownership sought a modernized system that could support hybrid events, improved intelligibility, and seamless integration with current collaboration tools—without disrupting ongoing operations.

Replacing Symetrix DSP units presents several technical challenges, primarily stemming from the discontinuation of older hardware, the need for complex firmware upgrades, and the transition of legacy design files to modern software platforms like Composer. Challenges often include network discovery issues, maintaining Dante redundancy, and ensuring hardware compatibility.  The replacement Symetrix audio DSP included areas for the spa, conference center, outdoor patio, pool and lobby and guest areas.

• Phased Migration: Creation Networks designed a parallel deployment strategy. New DSP hardware ran alongside the existing Symetrix units during testing, allowing a hot-cutover with near-zero downtime.
• I/O and Infrastructure Reuse: Extensive use of existing analog and Dante infrastructure minimized rewiring costs in the challenging resort environment (long cable runs, multiple buildings).
• Advanced Processing Needs: Requirements included sophisticated AEC for divisible ballrooms, automatic mixing for panels and presentations, and zone-specific EQ/delay for consistent coverage in acoustically varied spaces.
• Unified Control: Replacement with a modern DSP platform enabled a single web-based control interface for staff, plus integration with the resort’s broader building management and scheduling systems.

Symetrix DSP Processors are intuitive yet powerful system management and control solutions offering amazing flexibility for venues, live events, broadcast. Direct replacements for older Symetrix DSP units (such as SymNet 8x8, Solus, or older Jupiter models) are primarily found within the current Symetrix Prism and Radius NX series, which use the modern Composer software platform.
