Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa & Casino Event Spaces
INTRODUCTION
The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino is an expansive 26-acre mountain retreat. Its square footage varies significantly depending on whether you are looking at guest accommodations, event spaces, or specific amenities. The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino features a dedicated conference center and meeting facilities with approximately 34,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event space.
A prime example of successfully navigating a Symetrix replacement comes from the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino project delivered by Creation Networks. This high-end lakeside property features extensive meeting spaces, ballrooms, restaurants, and public areas where reliable, high-quality audio is essential for guest experience, events, and operations.
PROJECT NAME
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino
LOCATION
Incline Village, NV
SIZE
50,000 SF
Project Background
The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe resort’s aging AV infrastructure included legacy Symetrix DSPs handling background music, paging, room combining, and conferencing across multiple zones. As part of broader property enhancements, the ownership sought a modernized system that could support hybrid events, improved intelligibility, and seamless integration with current collaboration tools—without disrupting ongoing operations.
CHALLENGE
Replacing Symetrix DSP units presents several technical challenges, primarily stemming from the discontinuation of older hardware, the need for complex firmware upgrades, and the transition of legacy design files to modern software platforms like Composer. Challenges often include network discovery issues, maintaining Dante redundancy, and ensuring hardware compatibility.eplacement Symetrix audio DSP included areas for the spa, conference center, outdoor patio, pool and lobby and guest areas.
- Phased Migration: Creation Networks designed a parallel deployment strategy. New DSP hardware ran alongside the existing Symetrix units during testing, allowing a hot-cutover with near-zero downtime.
- I/O and Infrastructure Reuse: Extensive use of existing analog and Dante infrastructure minimized rewiring costs in the challenging resort environment (long cable runs, multiple buildings).
- Advanced Processing Needs: Requirements included sophisticated AEC for divisible ballrooms, automatic mixing for panels and presentations, and zone-specific EQ/delay for consistent coverage in acoustically varied spaces.
- Unified Control: Replacement with a modern DSP platform enabled a single web-based control interface for staff, plus integration with the resort’s broader building management and scheduling systems.
THE SOLUTION
Symetrix DSP Processors are intuitive yet powerful system management and control solutions offering amazing flexibility for venues, live events, broadcast. Direct replacements for older Symetrix DSP units (such as SymNet 8x8, Solus, or older Jupiter models) are primarily found within the current Symetrix Prism and Radius NX series, which use the modern Composer software platform. Creation Networks deployed a scalable, networked DSP ecosystem (supporting high channel counts and AVoIP) paired with enterprise-grade microphones, amplifiers, and loudspeakers.
The new system offers:
- Native Dante/AES67 networking for future-proof expansion.
- Powerful onboard processing for feedback suppression, auto-ducking, and room tuning.
- Intuitive programming and monitoring tools that reduce technician training time.
- Remote diagnostics and cloud-based monitoring for proactive maintenance.
THE TECHNOLOGY
Tucked beside the main pool, Stillwater Garden is a charming outdoor venue with an outdoor audio system powered by Symetrix DSP, perfect for weddings and special celebrations. This intimate setting offers a romantic backdrop for ceremonies, cocktail hours or small receptions, surrounded by the beauty of North Lake Tahoe.
However, as systems age, integrators and facility managers increasingly face the need to replace them. This upgrade path presents unique technical, operational, and budgetary challenges that demand careful planning.
Lake Tahoe Conference Center & Event Space
The Lake Tahoe Conference Center offers flexible spaces perfect for small to mid-sized events or meetings. Host up to 100 guests in the spacious Martis Peak room for an opening session, then make use of the other meeting rooms for breakout activities and team-building exercises. Each of the seven event spaces can also be used individually to fit your needs, with Symetrix audio keypads allowing multiple meetings to run simultaneously.
RESULTS
The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe in Incline Village features a year-round, heated lagoon-style outdoor pool with a unique indoor swim-out entrance. Surrounded by pine trees, it includes two large hot tubs, fire pits, and outdoor audio system for continous background music.
- Significantly improved audio clarity and reliability across conference spaces.
- Reduced operational complexity for hotel AV staff.
- Enhanced support for hybrid and large-scale events, boosting guest satisfaction and revenue potential.
- A future-ready platform that accommodates ongoing resort renovations (including South Parcel redevelopment).
This project demonstrates how a thoughtful Symetrix replacement can transform a hospitality venue from “functional but limited” to “high-performance and scalable.”.
