What is the Vizrt VCSTUDIOI/O Viz Connect Studio I/O?
The Vizrt VCSTUDIOI/O is the Viz Connect Studio I/O, a 2RU rack-mount NDI and SDI video I/O system that converts up to eight channels between SDI, NDI and IP formats. It supports 12G-SDI, 10 Gigabit Ethernet and NDI 6, which makes it a central conversion point for broadcast studios and IP production facilities. Vizrt describes it as its most advanced studio module, adding recording, media playback, multiviewers and video scopes on top of conversion.
How does the Vizrt VCSTUDIOI/O Viz Connect Studio I/O work?
The Viz Connect Studio I/O bridges existing SDI infrastructure and an NDI network. Its dynamic I/O can be configured as 8 x 3G-SDI, 2 x 12G-SDI with 4 x 3G-SDI, or combinations in between, with SD through UHD support including quad-link grouping and 6G-SDI, all on HD-BNC connectors.
On the IP side it accepts NDI, SRT, RTMP and RTSP sources and outputs NDI and SDI, so a remote SRT feed can land on an SDI router or an SDI camera can appear on the NDI network for a TriCaster. A 10GBASE-T NIC carries high-bandwidth NDI traffic, with an additional 2.5 GbE and 1 GbE port.
Each channel can record SDI inputs and play back media files, and integrated waveform and vectorscope monitoring, LTC/VITC timecode and genlock support make it suitable for broadcast engineering work. Per-channel proc amp color correction adjusts brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and white balance.
Audio rides embedded in SDI and NDI, with Dante, AES67 and ASIO support available through compatible audio drivers (sold separately). Management is available locally, through integrated NDI KVM, or via a web-based API. Pair it with the TriCaster Vizion Tower with 16 SDI I/O, add analog audio with the Viz Connect Audio 8x4 analog/NDI converter, or browse the full Vizrt live production collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Viz Connect Studio I/O and the Viz Connect Solo?
Solo units convert a single HDMI or SDI signal to NDI. The Studio I/O handles up to eight channels in a 2RU chassis with 12G-SDI, recording, playback and scopes.
Does it work with TriCaster?
Yes. It outputs standard NDI that any TriCaster, including the TriCaster Vizion Tower with 16 SDI I/O, can switch. Vizrt also lists compatibility with Viz Engine.
Which connectors does it use for SDI?
SDI I/O is on HD-BNC connectors, up to 8x.
Are rack rails included?
No. Vizrt lists rack rails as sold separately; the chassis includes rack ears.
Can it use Dante audio?
Yes, through compatible audio drivers and virtual sound card licenses sold separately.
