Product Overview

The Sennheiser HMD 300 is a dual-ear broadcast headset built for clear communication in loud backstage and production environments. Its closed circumaural design isolates ambient noise while a dynamic super-cardioid boom microphone captures speech intelligibly over crowd and stage volume. Switchable ActiveGard limiting protects operators from sudden audio bursts, making this backstage intercom headset a dependable choice for broadcast studios, live production, and commercial AV communication systems. (Cable sold separately.)

Product Description

The HMD 300 pairs a comfortable, closed passive earcup construction with a split headband that relieves pressure during long shifts, so operators stay focused through extended broadcasts. The dual-sided design provides strong ambient noise attenuation on both ears for immersive monitoring, while the dynamic super-cardioid microphone rejects off-axis noise for reliable intelligibility in high-volume settings. The boom can be worn on the left or right side and decouples structure-borne noise to keep transmitted audio clean.

A wide 60 Hz–25 kHz headphone response reproduces program and intercom audio accurately, and switchable ActiveGard limiting technology intelligently caps sudden peaks at 110 dB SPL to guard hearing. The foldable earcups make the headset easy to store and transport between productions. Because the HMD 300 ships without a cable, integrators can select the exact connector configuration required for their intercom or communication system. Compatible cables include the X4F, X5, X3K1, and others. Browse matching broadcast accessories and more in our Sennheiser collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the HMD 300 include a cable?

What is ActiveGard and why does it matter?
ActiveGard is switchable limiting technology that caps sudden audio peaks at 110 dB SPL, protecting operators' hearing during unpredictable live production audio.

Can the microphone be worn on either side?
Yes. The boom microphone can be configured for left- or right-side wear to suit each operator.

Is it suitable for loud backstage environments?
Yes. The closed circumaural earcups attenuate ambient noise and the super-cardioid mic rejects off-axis sound for clear communication.
