Product Overview
The Salamander AR1/48/SS is a 48-inch satin stainless ADA rail installed beneath a wall-mounted display to make the protruding panel cane-detectable. At four feet it is the shortest rail in the System One range, sized for smaller wall-mounted displays and wayfinding panels in circulation space. It is the accessibility component of a wall-mount installation.
Product Description
Smaller displays are not exempt from protrusion requirements. A 43-inch wayfinding panel on a wall mount in a corridor projects far enough to fall within the cane-detection zone, and accessibility guidelines apply to it exactly as they apply to a video wall. The rail is often overlooked on these installations precisely because the display is modest.
The front rail places a detectable element below the panel within cane sweep range so the protrusion is announced before contact. Satin stainless withstands public-space traffic and cleaning cycles better than painted alternatives and reads as intentional hardware rather than a bolted-on fix. Match rail length to the display and mount width; 60, 72, 84, and 108-inch versions cover larger panels.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do small displays really need an ADA rail?
If they protrude more than four inches into a circulation path within the cane-detection zone, yes. A 43-inch panel on a wall mount typically does. Confirm with your architect or code authority.
How do I choose rail length?
Match the rail to the width of the display and its mount so the detectable element spans the protrusion. Send us the display model and mount and we will confirm the correct length.
Can it be retrofitted to an installed display?
Yes, and that is how most get specified — after an accessibility review flags the protrusion. Retrofitting requires wall access below the display for anchoring.
