Product Overview
The Salamander SA/HDC/4 is a set of four 4-inch heavy duty casters with brake for Salamander AV cabinets and credenzas. They convert a fixed cabinet into a rollaway unit, which is how technicians get behind a loaded rack without unloading it first. The brake locks the cabinet in position once it is set. Black finish, sold as a set of four for standard four-corner cabinet bases.
Product Description
Service access is the recurring problem with built-in AV furniture. A credenza loaded with a switcher, amplifier, and control processor is effectively immovable once commissioned, so any change to a cable termination means working blind behind the cabinet or emptying it. Casters solve this directly: the cabinet rolls forward, the technician works with full rear access, and the cabinet rolls back. On sites with a maintenance contract, that difference compounds across every service visit over the life of the system.
The braking function matters as much as the mobility. An unbraked cabinet carrying rack equipment will creep on hard flooring and can move under load, so a locking caster is the correct specification for anything holding powered equipment. These are 4-inch casters, which clear typical carpet and transition strips more reliably than smaller wheels. Salamander also offers this caster set in six- and eight-piece configurations for longer cabinets with additional support points, along with Saturn wheels, Stiletto feet, Robot feet, and leveler feet where a fixed installation is preferred.
