RDL TX-AFC1M – Unbalanced to Balanced Audio Transformer, RCA to XLR
What is the RDL TX-AFC1M?
The RDL TX-AFC1M is a single-channel passive transformer that converts an unbalanced RCA source to a balanced male XLR output. It provides studio-quality galvanic isolation for studio and general-purpose audio installations.
How does it work?
An unbalanced source connects to the phono jack input, and a studio-quality bifilar audio transformer converts it to balanced at the male XLR output. The XLR shield (pin 1) connects to the input phono jack ground. The module is passive and runs at unity gain, so it does not add gain to the converted signal. Its compact size and jack placement permit high-density mounting on rack sides or rack rails. RDL lists TX mounting accessories such as the TX-RA5 19-inch racking system and MB-1 mounting kit for this module.
What are the key features?
- RCA to XLR conversion — A phono jack input and male XLR output convert unbalanced sources to balanced lines.
- Studio-quality bifilar transformer — The transformer provides wideband audio, ultra-low distortion and galvanic isolation.
- Unity gain passive design — The module adds no gain and needs no power supply.
- Gold contacts — Gold contacts on the input and output provide reliable connections.
- Flexible mounting — The compact module mounts on rack sides or front or rear rack rails with RDL options.
