RDL ST-NG1 – White and Pink Noise Generator
What is the RDL ST-NG1?
The RDL ST-NG1 is a white and pink noise generator for audio measurement and sound masking. It produces truly random analog noise across the full 20 Hz to 20 kHz band.
How does it work?
Unlike digitally generated pseudo-random sources, the ST-NG1 produces no repetitive frequency or amplitude pattern, making it suited to secure masking environments. Amplitude limiting controls extreme peaks while preserving random variations of at least 20 dB. Each noise source provides a +4 dBu balanced line-level output adjustable from off to +8 dBu and a balanced mic-level output adjustable from off to -40 dBu. The module requires ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 30 mA, such as from the RDL PS-24AX. In high RF environments it can be housed in the RDL STS-RF1 shielded chassis.
What are the key features?
- White and pink noise — Both spectral distributions are available.
- True random analog noise — No repetitive pattern makes it suited to secure masking.
- Line and mic outputs — Balanced line and mic-level outputs feed different inputs.
- Peak limiting — Extreme peaks are controlled while random variation is preserved.
