What is the RDL RU-NFDP?
The RDL RU-NFDP is a Dante to Format-A interface and distributor that converts four Dante channels to RDL twisted-pair Format-A and a balanced aux output. Three Dante channels feed Format-A pairs A, B and C on three RJ45 output jacks, while the fourth feeds a +4 dBu balanced aux line output. It runs on PoE with optional 24 Vdc hot standby and powers remote Format-A receivers over the same CATx cable.
How does it work?

Each Dante channel maps to one Format-A pair, and the Format-A output is distributed to three separate rear-panel RJ45 jacks. Each output jack supplies up to 200 mA to connected Format-A receivers, which can be daisy-chained from one jack or home-run to each of the three outputs. Higher-current receivers, such as D-PSP1A powered Decora-style speakers, should be connected individually to a separate output jack. Receivers can be located near the RU-NFDP or up to several thousand feet away, feeding wall plates, rack-mounted or shelf-mounted Format-A receivers. Front-panel signal LEDs show the level of each of the four received Dante channels, and outputs mute when the digital audio inputs are inactive. On PoE (Class 0, IEEE 802.3af) the unit powers itself and receivers on the primary Format-A output; adding an external 24 Vdc supply powers receivers on all three outputs, with automatic failover to PoE if that supply is lost. Each Format-A RJ45 connector has its own auto-resetting fuse and power LED to help locate wiring faults. RDL recommends the PS-24AS (USA) or RDL PS-24AX (international) supply, and receivers such as the D-TPR1A XLR mic/line receiver complete the system. The Rack-Up enclosure stands free, surface mounts with the RU-SMA1, or rack mounts with the RU-HRA1.
What are the key features?
- Dante to Format-A conversion — Converts three Dante channels to Format-A pairs A, B and C.
- Three Format-A output jacks — Distributes the Format-A signal to three RJ45 jacks for daisy-chain or home-run wiring.
- Aux balanced output — A fourth Dante channel feeds a +4 dBu balanced line output on a terminal block.
- Powers remote receivers — Each output jack supplies up to 200 mA to connected Format-A receivers.
- Automatic muting — Outputs mute when the digital audio inputs are inactive.
- Fused outputs — Each Format-A RJ45 power feed has an auto-resetting fuse and power LED.
- PoE with hot standby — Runs on PoE alone or with an external 24 Vdc supply and automatic failover.
- Rack-Up mounting — Free-standing, surface or rack mounting with RDL Rack-Up accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does it connect to?
RDL Format-A receivers, including wall plates, rack-mounted and shelf-mounted units, over CATx cable with RJ45 connectors.
How far can receivers be from the unit?
Format-A receivers can be near the RU-NFDP or up to several thousand feet away.
How is it powered?
By PoE Class 0 (IEEE 802.3af), an external 24 Vdc supply at 120 mA plus loads, or both. Without an external supply, only the primary output jack powers remote receivers.
How many receivers can I connect?
Each output jack supplies up to 200 mA, and receivers can be daisy-chained within that budget. Higher-current receivers such as D-PSP1A speakers need their own jack.
Is there a non-PoE version?
Yes. RDL also offers the RU-NFD, powered from an external 24 Vdc supply.
What warranty does it carry?
This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
