What is the RDL RU-LB2P?

The RDL RU-LB2P is a RACK-UP bidirectional Dante interface that converts two line-level sources to Dante and two Dante channels back to balanced line level. It connects mixers, DSPs, media players and amplifiers to a Dante network in one compact module. Inputs accept both -10 dBV unbalanced and +4 dBu balanced sources with more than 18 dB of headroom, and the unit runs from PoE.

How does it work?

RDL RU-LB2P line-level Dante interface

On the network side, the RU-LB2P converts two Dante channels to balanced line outputs that deliver +4 dBu for a network level of -18 dBFS. Crosstalk stays below the noise floor across the audio spectrum and the noise floor is better than 80 dB below operating level. A front-panel green LED for each received channel indicates audio level, which helps setup without a networked computer on site. On the input side, two line-level sources are converted to Dante channels. Each input has a front-panel gain trimmer with a dual-LED VU meter, so installers can set an operating level that preserves full headroom with the lowest noise floor. Conversion is 24-bit with RDL analog filtering. LEDs show network sync status. The RU-LB2P runs from a PoE network switch, and with an external 24 Vdc supply also connected it switches to PoE automatically if that supply is lost. The module mounts in a rack or on a surface using RDL RACK-UP accessories such as the RU-HRA1 10.4-inch rack mount, RC-1UR 19-inch universal rack chassis, RU-SMA1 surface mounting plate and RU-BR1 under-surface bracket.

What are the key features?

  • 2x2 Dante interface — Converts two line sources to Dante and two Dante channels to balanced line outputs.
  • Flexible line inputs — Accepts -10 dBV unbalanced or +4 dBu balanced with more than 18 dB headroom.
  • Gain trim and VU meters — Front-panel trimmer and dual-LED VU meter for each input.
  • Professional outputs — +4 dBu balanced outputs with more than 18 dB headroom.
  • Signal LEDs — Indicate audio on each received network channel.
  • PoE with hot standby — Runs from PoE or 24 Vdc with automatic switchover.
  • Rack or surface mount — Works with RDL RACK-UP mounting accessories.

Where is it typically used?

  • Conference rooms and boardrooms
  • Training rooms and classrooms
  • Auditoriums and multi-purpose rooms
  • Houses of worship
  • Government and commercial facilities

Frequently Asked Questions

What levels can the RU-LB2P inputs accept?

Each input supports unbalanced -10 dBV and balanced +4 dBu line-level sources with more than 18 dB headroom.

Do I need a computer to set levels?

No. Input gain is set with front-panel trimmers and VU meters, and signal LEDs show received network audio.

How is the RU-LB2P powered?

From a PoE switch or an external 24 Vdc supply, with hot-standby switchover to PoE.

How do I mount it in a rack?

Use RDL RACK-UP accessories such as the RU-HRA1 or RC-1UR chassis.

What warranty does the RU-LB2P carry?

This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
