What is the RDL FP-PEQ3?

The RDL FP-PEQ3 is a single-channel, three-band parametric equalizer for correcting room response and notching out feedback frequencies in installed sound systems. Each band has independent frequency, boost/cut and bandwidth controls across overlapping ranges from 15 Hz to 20 kHz. Balanced terminal block and unbalanced phono connections let it sit between pro and consumer equipment.

How does it work?

RDL FP-PEQ3 3-Band Parametric Equalizer, Terminal Block/Phono

The FP-PEQ3 contains three identical, independent filters, each with separately adjustable FREQUENCY, BOOST/CUT and bandwidth (BW) controls. Frequency is set within three fully overlapping, switch-selectable ranges: 15 Hz to 200 Hz, 150 Hz to 2 kHz and 1.5 kHz to 20 kHz. Each filter provides up to 15 dB of boost or cut, selected by a switch, which RDL notes makes acoustic adjustment easier than on other parametric equalizers. Setting a filter's BOOST/CUT to minimum removes that filter from the circuit entirely. Bandwidth adjusts from 0.04 octave for narrow notch filtering up to 1.5 octave for broad tonal shaping. Inputs and outputs are available as +4 dBu balanced on terminal blocks and -10 dBV unbalanced on phono jacks, with output gain adjustable from off to +3 dB. Output level metering helps set correct operating levels during commissioning. The module runs from ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 120 mA; RDL recommends the PS-24AS (USA) or PS-24AX (international), not included. Mount it with the FP-HRA 10.4-inch rack mount, FP-RRA 19-inch rack adapter or FP-RRB1 rear rail kit.

What are the key features?

  • Three independent filters — Each band has its own frequency, boost/cut and bandwidth controls.
  • Overlapping frequency ranges — Switch-selectable ranges cover 15 Hz to 20 kHz without gaps.
  • ±15 dB boost or cut — Switch-selectable cut or boost speeds up acoustic adjustment.
  • 0.04 to 1.5 octave bandwidth — Narrow settings notch feedback while wide settings shape tone.
  • Balanced and unbalanced I/O — Terminal block and phono connections interface pro and consumer gear.
  • Output level metering — Metering on the output helps set proper levels during setup.

Where is it typically used?

  • Conference room
  • Boardroom
  • House of worship
  • Auditorium
  • Training room
  • Multi-purpose room

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the FP-PEQ3 be used for feedback control?

Yes. Bandwidth adjusts down to 0.04 octave, which RDL positions for acoustic notch filtering.

Is it stereo?

No. The FP-PEQ3 is a single-channel module with three filters.

Can it connect to both pro and consumer equipment?

Yes. It has +4 dBu balanced terminal block and -10 dBV unbalanced phono connections on both input and output.

How do I bypass a band?

Turn that filter's BOOST/CUT control to minimum, which removes the filter from the circuit.

What power supply is required?

Ground-referenced 24 Vdc at 120 mA; RDL recommends the PS-24AS (USA) or PS-24AX (international).

What warranty applies?

This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
