What is the RDL EZ-HK2?
The RDL EZ-HK2 is a composite video transformer isolation module that eliminates hum bars caused by ground loops. It installs between a computer or DVD player and a grounded monitor or projector in AV and video systems.
How does it work?
Standard 75 ohm composite video connects to gold-plated RCA input and output jacks. The input shield is electrically isolated from the case and from the output ground, while the output shield connects to the case through a rear-panel ground-lift switch. The passive circuit runs at unity gain with a video bandwidth of 40 Hz to more than 5 MHz. The compact case is sized at 1/6 rack width for portable use or permanent installation.
What are the key features?
- Video ground-loop elimination — Transformer isolation removes hum from ground loops between a video source and a grounded display.
- 75 ohm composite video — Input and output impedance match standard 1 V p-p composite video signals.
- Switch-selectable ground lift — A rear-panel switch lifts the output shield from the case when needed.
- Wide video bandwidth — RDL specifies a 40 Hz to more than 5 MHz bandwidth for good low and high frequency response.
- Gold-plated RCA jacks — Gold-plated connectors provide reliable connections for portable or installed use.
