What is the RDL DB-RN02?
The RDL DB-RN02 is a single-gang, black-finish Dante or AES67 wall plate interface that delivers two network audio channels as balanced mic or line outputs at the wall. It gives integrators a clean way to drop networked audio into a room for local amplifiers, recorders or mixer inputs. PoE power and software configuration through RDL CONSOLE keep the installation simple, and a Q-SYS plug-in is available for Q-SYS projects.
How does it work?

The DB-RN02 converts two Dante or AES67 audio channels to balanced outputs. Both outputs appear on front-panel XLR jacks and on a rear-panel detachable wiring block, so you can patch at the plate or wire into the wall. Each output delivers +4 dBu balanced for a network level of -18 dBFS. The front-panel XLR outputs are software-selectable for mic or line level, which lets the plate feed either a line input or the mic input of a mixer or recorder. Every output has a software-controlled attenuator adjustable in 1 dB steps to 63 dB of attenuation, then OFF. The module uses high-resolution 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion and supports 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz sample rates. Green front-panel LEDs confirm valid PoE power and Dante network sync. The steel chassis mounts behind a black Decora front plate, and the unit is compatible with RDL network remote controls. RDL engineers and builds the DB-RN02 in the U.S.A. for continuous duty in commercial networked audio systems.
What are the key features?
- Dante or AES67 0x2 interface — Converts two network audio channels to balanced analog outputs in a single-gang wall plate.
- Dual output connections — Each output is available on a front-panel XLR jack and on a rear-panel detachable wiring block.
- Mic or line level XLR outputs — Front-panel XLR outputs are software-selectable for mic or line level to suit the connected equipment.
- 1 dB step attenuators — Each output has a software-controlled attenuator from 0 to -63 dB, then OFF.
- PoE powered — The plate runs from an IEEE 802.3af PoE switch port with no local power supply required.
- Q-SYS plug-in — RDL offers a Q-SYS plug-in so the module can be configured inside a Q-SYS design.
Where is it typically used?
- Conference rooms and boardrooms
- Training rooms and classrooms
- Multi-purpose rooms
- Houses of worship
- Government and commercial meeting spaces

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the DB-RN02 send audio into the Dante network?
No. The DB-RN02 is a 0x2 interface: it receives two network channels and outputs them as analog audio. For a wall input, look at the RDL RN12, RN22 or RN2ML models.
Does the DB-RN02 need a separate power supply?
No. The DB-RN02 is powered over the network cable from a PoE switch port (PoE Class 0, IEEE 802.3af), so no local power supply is needed at the wall.
How is the DB-RN02 configured?
Output attenuation, mic/line output level and Dante routing are set in RDL CONSOLE or other network control software. RDL also offers a Q-SYS plug-in for configuring the module inside a Q-SYS design.
What electrical box does the DB-RN02 fit?
It fits a standard US single-gang electrical box. RDL lists the EP-1 adaptor for EU/UK square back boxes with 60 mm screw centers.
Is the DB-RN02 available in another finish?
Yes. The same interface is sold as the RDL DS-RN02 in a stainless steel finish, so you can match the faceplate to the room.
What warranty does the DB-RN02 carry?
This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
