Product Overview
The QSC Core 610 is an enterprise-grade Q-SYS audio, video, and control (AV&C) processor built on a Dell PowerEdge R250 commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) server platform. It bridges the gap between the integrated Core 24f/510i lineup and the X-Class Server Core family — offering 256×256 Q-LAN/AES67 network audio channels, 64 channels of acoustic echo cancellation (AEC), up to 128×128 Dante audio channels, and 480 GB of onboard media storage in a 1U rack-mount chassis. The COTS architecture aligns with IT procurement standards, simplifies spare parts sourcing, and reduces total cost of ownership for enterprise AV deployments.
A Q-SYS Scaling License (compatible with Q-SYS Designer v9.9+) unlocks significantly expanded capabilities: network audio capacity grows to 384×384, AEC channels increase to 96, media streaming expands to 96×96, and NM-T1 microphone support grows from 14 to 21 units — all without hardware changes. Enterprise IT integration features include iDRAC v9 remote management, SNMP monitoring, LDAP user management, RS-232 control, and four gigabit Ethernet ports for redundant AV transport and segregated auxiliary network services.
Key Features
- 256×256 Q-LAN/AES67 networked audio channels (base) — Expandable to 384×384 with optional Scaling License; suited for large enterprise campus and multi-building AV architectures.
- 64 AEC channels (base) — Expandable to 96 with Scaling License; handles large multi-microphone conferencing environments without supplemental hardware.
- Up to 128×128 Dante channels — Large-scale Dante network integration for third-party networked audio devices across the enterprise.
- Dell PowerEdge R250 COTS platform — Proven enterprise server hardware with standardized components, rack integration, and IT-familiar form factor; simplifies spare parts procurement and service.
- iDRAC v9 remote management — Out-of-band server management for remote diagnostics, firmware updates, and hardware monitoring without requiring physical access to the rack.
- SNMP, LDAP, and Layer 3 routing support — IT-standard monitoring, directory integration, and network segmentation for enterprise AV infrastructure management.
- 480 GB onboard media drive (440 GB user-available) — Supports multitrack playback (16 tracks base, expandable to 128) and recording; approximately 880+ hours of uncompressed mono WAV storage.
- 4 gigabit Ethernet ports — Redundant multimedia LAN ports plus independent auxiliary ports for segregated VoIP, SNMP, LDAP, and media streaming traffic.
- 14 Q-SYS NM-T1 microphone support (base) — Expandable to 21 with Scaling License for large conference and huddle room deployments.
- Full Q-SYS Control engine — RS-232, SNMP, LDAP, and IP-based third-party device control from a single unified software environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does “COTS” mean and why does it matter?
COTS stands for Commercial Off-The-Shelf — the Core 610 uses standard Dell PowerEdge server hardware rather than proprietary AV chassis components. This means replacement parts, service contracts, and hardware support are available through standard Dell and IT service channels, reducing long-term procurement and maintenance complexity for enterprise IT teams managing AV infrastructure.
What does the Q-SYS Scaling License unlock?
The optional Scaling License (requires Q-SYS Designer v9.9 or later) increases DSP processing power from 16× to 24× Core Nano equivalent, expands network audio from 256×256 to 384×384 channels, raises AEC capacity from 64 to 96 channels, grows media streaming from 64×64 to 96×96, and increases NM-T1 microphone support from 14 to 21 units — all without replacing hardware. Contact Creation Networks for licensing options.
How does the Core 610 compare to the Server Core X10?
The Server Core X10 offers 3× the DSP power of the Core 24f, 256×256 Q-LAN channels, 64 AEC channels, and 32 VoIP instances in a newer server platform. The Core 610 provides similar base specifications at a lower price point ($13,020 vs. $8,650 for X10) — however, the X10 uses a newer hardware generation with 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports and is the recommended path for new enterprise deployments. The Core 610 Scaling License can partially close the gap for existing designs.
What optional licenses are available for the Core 610?
Available licenses include: UCI Deployment License, Scripting Engine License, Core Mode Video Streaming License, software-based Dante licenses, and multi-track playback expansion licenses. Contact Creation Networks for the full licensing matrix.
What warranty and support applies?
The QSC Core 610 carries QSC's standard 3-year limited warranty on the Q-SYS platform. The underlying Dell PowerEdge hardware may also carry separate Dell warranty coverage.
