Product Overview
The Sharp NEC NP-PX2201UL is a 21,500-lumen WUXGA laser installation projector engineered for large venue projection in auditoriums, museums, houses of worship, simulation labs, and theme park attractions. Its RB laser light source produces a wide color gamut that rivals 3-chip DLP performance, while the filter-free optical engine delivers up to 20,000 hours of virtually maintenance-free operation. With built-in edge blending, geometric correction, and HDBaseT, this professional installation projector is designed for demanding multi-projector commercial AV integration. Lens sold separately — five motorized bayonet lenses cover short-throw to ultra-long-throw distances.
Product Description
The NP-PX2201UL pairs a 1-chip DLP imaging engine with an RB laser light source that adds red laser output to the conventional blue-laser/phosphor design, widening the color gamut for richer, more accurate large-screen images. Output reaches 20,500 ANSI lumens in Normal mode (21,500 center lumens, ISO21118-2012) at native WUXGA 1920 x 1200 resolution, with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio using DynamicBlack. Image sizes scale from 40 to 500 inches diagonal, making it a practical choice for high-brightness projection in rooms where ambient light cannot be controlled.
For AV integrators, the chassis is built around installation flexibility. Motorized lens shift (H ±15%, V ±50%), zoom, and focus permit remote alignment after the projector is rigged or ceiling mounted. The laser engine supports 360-degree free-tilt and portrait orientation, enabling projection mapping, simulation domes, and vertical digital signage. Built-in edge blending and geometric correction let system designers tile or blend multiple units into seamless wide-format canvases without external processing hardware.
Signal connectivity covers professional workflows: two HDMI inputs with HDCP, DisplayPort, DVI-D, 3G-SDI input and loop-out, 5BNC analog, and an HDBaseT port that carries video and control over a single category cable for long-distance runs. RS-232, LAN with PJLink, and NaViSet Administrator 2 support enterprise monitoring across campus-wide deployments. The filter-free sealed optics protect against dust ingress, and at 51 kg the unit remains semi-portable for staging and rental use.
Need a complete package? The Sharp NP-PX2201UL-48ZL bundle includes the NP48ZL long-throw zoom lens.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the NP-PX2201UL come with a lens?
No. The projector body ships without a lens. Choose from five motorized bayonet lenses — NP45ZL (0.9–1.2:1), NP46ZL (1.2–1.56:1), NP47ZL (1.5–2.0:1), NP48ZL (2.0–4.0:1), or NP49ZL (4.0–7.0:1) — based on your throw distance and screen size.
Can multiple PX2201UL units be blended into one image?
Yes. Edge blending and geometric correction are built in, so two or more projectors can produce a single ultra-wide or mapped image without an external video processor.
What electrical service does it require?
The projector runs on 200–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz, drawing up to 1,775 W in Normal mode. Specify a dedicated 208/240 V circuit when planning the installation.
Does it support HDBaseT?
Yes. The built-in HDBaseT input transports video and control over one category cable, ideal when the equipment rack sits far from the projection position.
Can it be mounted at unusual angles?
Yes. The laser light source allows 360-degree free-tilt and portrait orientation, supporting projection mapping, dome simulation, and vertical digital signage installations.
How does it integrate with room control systems?
RS-232 and LAN with PJLink provide control-system integration with Crestron, Extron, AMX, and similar platforms, and NaViSet Administrator 2 handles centralized fleet monitoring.
How long does the laser light source last?
The laser engine is rated up to 20,000 hours, and the filter-free sealed optical design means there are no filters to clean or replace over the projector's service life.
