What is the Magewell Pro Convert AES67 audio converter?
The Magewell Pro Convert AES67 is a compact, PoE-powered IP audio converter that bridges analog audio, AES67, NDI and SRT. It sends and receives multicast or unicast AES67 streams compatible with SMPTE ST 2110-30, converts between AES67, NDI and SRT, and acts as an analog on-ramp and off-ramp for an audio-over-IP network. In commercial AV it connects microphones, mixers, overflow rooms and broadcast feeds to AES67 systems such as Q-SYS without a computer in the path.
How does the Magewell Pro Convert AES67 work?
Audio enters through a balanced 4.4 mm input (XLR adapter cables included), an unbalanced 3.5 mm input, a 4-channel USB Audio Class connection from a computer, up to four 8-channel AES67 streams, or one 4-channel NDI, SRT or Icecast stream. An internal virtual matrix routes or mixes any input channel to any output. On the output side it sends up to eight 8-channel AES67 streams by multicast (IGMPv2) or unicast, one 4-channel stream over NDI, SRT or Icecast, balanced and unbalanced analog outputs, and USB audio to a computer.
Because it supports PTP as master or slave and SMPTE ST 2110-30, it joins AES67 networks run by DSPs and consoles from other manufacturers, while NDI and SRT let the same audio reach video production systems and remote sites. Packet time and buffer are adjustable from 0.125 to 64 ms to balance latency against network conditions. The unit is configured in a browser or Magewell Control Hub and runs on 802.3af PoE, its supplied adapter or USB power.
What are the key features of the Magewell Pro Convert AES67?
- AES67 send and receive — Sends up to eight and receives up to four 8-channel 24-bit AES67 streams, compatible with SMPTE ST 2110-30.
- NDI and SRT bridging — Converts audio between AES67, NDI, SRT and Icecast for mixed production workflows.
- Analog I/O — Balanced 4.4 mm and unbalanced 3.5 mm in and out, with XLR breakout cables included.
- USB audio interface — Works as a 4-channel USB audio device for a computer.
- Virtual audio matrix — Routes or mixes any input channel to any output.
- PTP master or slave — Synchronizes with AES67 networks as clock leader or follower.
- PoE powered — Runs from an 802.3af PoE switch port.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work with Q-SYS and other AES67 systems?
Yes. It sends and receives standard AES67 streams with PTP, so it interoperates with AES67-capable DSPs such as Q-SYS. See the full Magewell line.
Does it support Dante?
Not natively. For Dante, use the Magewell Pro Convert Audio DX.
Can it convert AES67 to NDI or SRT?
Yes. It bridges audio between AES67, NDI, SRT and Icecast.
Can it connect to XLR equipment?
Yes. 4.4 mm to dual XLR male and female cables are included for balanced connections.
How is it powered?
From an 802.3af PoE switch port, the supplied adapter or USB.
