What is the Magewell Pro Convert SDI 4K Plus NDI encoder?
The Magewell Pro Convert SDI 4K Plus is a standalone 6G-SDI to NDI encoder that converts one SDI source up to 4K30 into a full-bandwidth NDI High Bandwidth stream. It accepts SD through 6G-SDI with loop-through and puts 4K SDI cameras and production feeds onto an NDI network with very low latency. It fits 4K camera systems in studios, auditoriums and houses of worship that are moving to NDI-based production.
How does the Magewell Pro Convert SDI 4K Plus work?
The encoder accepts SD, HD, 3G and 6G-SDI up to 4096×2160 30p, receiving 6G-SDI over cable runs up to 100 m, and passes the signal to the next device on the BNC loop-through. It encodes NDI High Bandwidth at up to 4096×2160 with SDI-embedded audio carried into the stream, and can output the native resolution, a custom resolution or a reduced frame rate to suit the network and the receivers.
NDI switchers, vMix, OBS, NDI Studio Monitor and decoders can all use the source directly. The Mini-DIN-8 port provides tally and PTZ camera control over NDI. The encoder detects the input and takes a DHCP address automatically, is managed through its web interface, Magewell Control Hub or HTTP APIs, and runs on 802.3af PoE or its 5 V supply.
