What is the Magewell Director One live production switcher?
The Magewell Director One is a portable all-in-one live production device with a 7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, built-in 4G modem and dedicated HDMI output. It switches, adds graphics, streams, records and monitors two HDMI inputs, two USB cameras, phone cameras, media files, web pages and up to three live IP sources. It lets one operator produce and stream an event from anywhere, including sites without wired internet.
How does the Magewell Director One work?
Sources include two HDMI 2.0 inputs up to 4K60, USB cameras up to 1080p60, mobile cameras through the Director Utility app, video, picture and music files, HTML pages, and up to three simultaneous SRT, RTMP, RTSP or NDI streams. Scenes and graphics are built and switched live on the 800-nit AMOLED touchscreen, which stays readable in bright light, or from the app, an Elgato Stream Deck or USB and Bluetooth controllers.
The program encodes H.264 or H.265 at up to 1080p60 and streams over RTMP, SRT or NDI HX3, with program and ISO recording. A dedicated HDMI output feeds an external screen or projector, and USB-C can work as a webcam output. Connectivity includes Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi, a built-in 4G modem with SIM slot and network bonding through Speedify for stability. It runs from its 12 V adapter or two hot-swappable NP-F batteries, and registers with Magewell Control Hub.
