What is the Magewell Director Mini live production switcher?

The Magewell Director Mini is a handheld all-in-one live production device that switches, adds graphics, streams, records and monitors from a 5.4-inch touchscreen. It mixes two HDMI inputs, two USB cameras, phone cameras, media files, web pages and up to three live IP sources, and streams to two destinations over RTMP, SRT or NDI HX3. It lets one operator produce a multi-camera event or meeting broadcast without a production truck or a computer.

How does the Magewell Director Mini work?

Sources include two HDMI 2.0 inputs up to 4K60, two USB 3.0 cameras up to 1080p60, mobile cameras through the Director Utility app, video, picture and music files, HTML pages, and up to three simultaneous SRT, RTMP, RTSP or NDI streams. The operator builds scenes and graphics, then switches live on the touchscreen, from the app, from an Elgato Stream Deck or from USB and Bluetooth controllers. PTZ cameras can be controlled over the network with VISCA UDP.

The program encodes H.264 or H.265 at up to 1080p60 and up to 30 Mbps and streams to two destinations at once over RTMP, SRT or NDI HX3, including YouTube, Facebook and custom servers, in landscape or portrait. Two-channel ISO recording captures the program or individual inputs to SD card, USB storage or internal storage. A USB-C port drives an external display or works as a webcam output. It runs on batteries or AC power and connects by Ethernet, Wi-Fi or a USB cellular modem.
