What is the Magewell USB Fusion presentation switcher?
The Magewell USB Fusion is a multi-input USB capture and switching device that combines two HDMI sources, a USB webcam and wireless screencasts into one composed picture for video conferencing, lecture capture and streaming. It presents itself to a computer as a standard USB webcam, so the mixed output works in Zoom, Teams and other meeting software, and it can stream directly over RTMP. It is built for hybrid classrooms and meeting rooms where a presenter needs the camera and content on screen together.
How does the Magewell USB Fusion work?
The USB Fusion takes two HDMI inputs, a USB camera on its WEB CAMERA 3 port at up to 1080p60, and up to four wireless screencasts over AirPlay, Miracast or Google Cast, plus imported images and files. Sources are arranged in scenes with picture-in-picture and custom layouts, then switched live from the USB Fusion iPad app or the on-board buttons. Up to two Watchers can view the scene and telestrate while one operator controls it.
The program goes to a computer over USB-C as a UVC webcam at up to 1080p60, to a display over HDMI, and to a streaming platform over RTMP at up to 1080p60 and 20 Mbps. Audio from the sources, the line input and a headset is mixed and sent on every output, with a CTIA headset jack for the presenter. Because the computer only sees a webcam, the device works with any conferencing or recording software without drivers.
