Product Overview
The Kramer RC-308 is a compact 8-button PoE control keypad for Kramer Control systems, designed for in-wall installation in conference rooms, classrooms, and commercial meeting spaces where a single LAN cable provides both power and communication. It fits standard US, EU, and UK 1-gang wall junction boxes, making it a cost-effective, aesthetically clean room control interface that integrates with lighting switches and other electrical hardware. AV integrators use the RC-308 as the primary end-user control interface for Kramer Control-based room automation systems — programming button macros via K-Config for display control, source selection, lighting, shading, and volume from a single keypad. Its built-in RS-232, RS-485, IR, relay, and GPI/O ports also allow standalone room controller operation without a separate master processor.
Product Description
The RC-308 features 8 RGB-backlit buttons with custom-labeled, removable button caps — giving integrators the flexibility to create polished, branded room control interfaces without visible blank keys. All 8 buttons are independently programmable via Kramer K-Config software, supporting complex multi-step macros for AV routing, display power, lighting scenes, and shading presets. Power over Ethernet (PoE) via the RJ-45 connector eliminates the need for a dedicated power supply at the wall, reducing installation time and material cost. A 12V DC power supply input is also available when PoE is not supported by the network switch. Two RS-232 ports on 3-pin terminal blocks allow direct serial control of displays, amplifiers, and processors. RS-485 and KNET connections extend control to additional devices and auxiliary keypads over a single cable. Two IR emitter outputs and a built-in IR learning sensor provide IR control of room devices. Two relay outputs handle contact closure for projection screens and motorized shading. One GPI/O port supports occupancy sensors and building automation integration. Multiple RC-308 units can be daisy-chained via KNET for multi-keypad installations with consistent appearance and operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the RC-308 act as a standalone room controller without a Kramer master controller?
Yes. Using K-Config software, the RC-308 can be programmed as a standalone room controller, using its built-in RS-232, RS-485, IR, relay, and GPI/O ports to directly control room devices without a separate processor.
What is the difference between the RC-308 and RC-306?
The RC-308 has 8 buttons; the RC-306 has 6 buttons. Both share the same I/O port set, PoE support, mounting format, and K-Config programming. Choose based on the number of control functions required in the room.
Does the RC-308 require a PoE switch?
PoE is the recommended installation method but not required. The RC-308 also accepts a 12V DC power supply for environments without PoE switching infrastructure.
Can multiple RC-308 keypads be linked together?
Yes. Multiple RC-308 units can be daisy-chained via a single KNET cable, delivering both power and communication between keypads for multi-button installations across a room or space.
Is the RC-308 compatible with Kramer Control?
Yes. The RC-308 is natively supported by Kramer Control and is the standard end-user button interface for Kramer Control-based room automation systems.
