What is the Kramer VW-4 video wall driver?
The Kramer VW-4 is a 4-output video wall driver that takes one HDMI input and spreads it across up to four displays in layouts such as 2x2, 4x1, 1x4, 2x1 or 3x1. Additional VW-4 units can be combined to build walls of any size and shape up to 64 displays. It is a compact, cost-effective video wall processor for lobbies, signage and meeting spaces.
How does the Kramer VW-4 work?
The VW-4 accepts a single HDMI input at up to 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 and 18Gbps, and outputs 1080p to each of four HDMI displays, plus an HDMI loop output for cascading or local monitoring. Basic walls of up to 16 displays can be set quickly using front-panel DIP switches. For full configuration, the VW-4 Windows app connects over Ethernet or RS-232 to set up walls of up to 8x8 displays, apply bezel correction, check HDCP status, copy EDID, view network settings and upgrade firmware.
HDCP 2.2 is supported on the input and loop output and HDCP 1.4 on the main outputs, and HDCP can be disabled on the input. EDID files can be uploaded, copied from any output to the input, or chosen from built-in options. Constant output sync and an auto-sync-off option keep the wall stable when the source drops, and CEC turns connected displays on or off with the input signal. The fan-less MegaTOOLS enclosure surface mounts or fits two side-by-side in 1U with a rack adapter such as the Kramer RK-T2B-B MegaTOOLS rack adapter.
