What is the Kramer VSM-4X4X matrix switcher?
The Kramer VSM-4X4X is a 4x4 seamless 4K60 HDMI matrix switcher that also works as a 2x2 or 1x4 video wall driver, a quad-viewer or a four-picture multiviewer. It supports HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 at up to 4K60 4:4:4, with per-port HDCP and EDID settings and analog stereo de-embedded audio for each output. It brings matrix switching, video wall processing and multiview into one 4K rack unit.
How does the Kramer VSM-4X4X work?
Four HDMI inputs feed four scaled HDMI outputs using Kramer PixPerfect precision pixel mapping and scaling. Matrix switching runs in a truly seamless mode with zero-time video cuts, or in fade-through-black mode, which allows independent output resolutions. Selectable operating modes cover 4x4 matrix, video wall in 2x2 or 1x4, and multi-view layouts including split, side-by-side, PIP, POP, stacked and quad, with bezel correction in video wall mode and constant output sync in every mode.
Each input has its own video ProcAmp for color, hue, sharpness, noise, contrast and brightness, plus built-in noise reduction and picture enhancement. Four preset memory locations per operating mode store common configurations, and non-volatile memory keeps final settings. HDMI support includes 4K@60Hz, deep color, x.v.Color, 7.1 PCM, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD, with four channels of embedded audio passed and four balanced audio outputs with independent volume. Control is via RS-232 and Ethernet, and firmware upgrades run over Ethernet.
