Product Overview

XTP II CP 4o SF 8K MM (Four output board, scaling, fiber 8K, multimode), part number 70-1301-01. The Extron XTP II CP Fiber 8K Input and Output Boards add long-haul 8K fiber distribution to an XTP II matrix frame. Each board provides four channels and supports video up to 8K/60 with embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, and 1 Gbps Ethernet over two fiber optic cables per link. The input board offers selectable XTP fiber and HDMI inputs; the output board provides four scaled XTP fiber outputs with unscaled local HDMI outputs, using the Extron Vector 4K scaling engine. All four board variants are HDCP 2.3 compliant, available in multimode and singlemode.

Product Description

A matrix frame is only as capable as its I/O. Adding 8K fiber distribution to an XTP II system means the frame can serve remote buildings and long campus runs at the same resolutions as its local connections, rather than forcing a lower-tier signal path for anything beyond the building.

The input board (XTP II CP 4i F 8K) provides four selectable inputs that accept either XTP fiber or HDMI. That flexibility matters in a frame serving a mix of local rack sources and distant room feeds; the same board handles both without dedicating slots by source type.

The output board (XTP II CP 4o SF 8K) provides four scaled XTP fiber outputs plus unscaled local HDMI outputs. Scaling is handled by the Extron Vector 4K engine, so each destination receives a resolution matched to its display rather than whatever the source produced. The unscaled local HDMI outputs serve monitoring and local displays in the equipment room.

Signal support across all variants is HDMI 2.1 with HDCP 2.3 at data rates to 40.1 Gbps. Resolutions reach 7680x4320 at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma and 10-bit color, 4:4:4 at 30 Hz, 4096x2160 at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 and 12-bit, and 3840x2160 at 120 Hz. Each fiber link carries video, embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, and 1 Gbps Ethernet over two fibers.

Four part numbers are offered: input and output boards, each in multimode and singlemode. Match the fiber mode to the installed plant and to the endpoint devices, which are typically the Extron XTP II FT 402 8K transmitter and XTP II FR 401 8K receiver.

Key Features

  • Four channels per board — Each input or output board adds four channels of 8K fiber distribution to an XTP II matrix frame.
  • Selectable fiber or HDMI inputs — The input board accepts either XTP fiber or HDMI per channel, so one board serves local and remote sources.
  • Scaled fiber outputs — The output board provides four scaled XTP fiber outputs so each destination receives a display-matched resolution.
  • Unscaled local HDMI outputs — Local HDMI outputs on the output board serve monitoring and equipment room displays.
  • Extron Vector 4K scaling — The Vector 4K engine performs output scaling within the frame rather than relying on display scalers.
  • 8K/60 support — Handles resolutions up to 7680x4320 at 60 Hz at data rates to 40.1 Gbps.
  • Video, control, and network together — Each link carries video, embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, and 1 Gbps Ethernet over two fibers.
  • HDCP 2.3 compliant — Maintains protected content paths across the matrix.
  • Multimode and singlemode options — All board types are offered in both fiber modes to match the installed plant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What frame do these boards go into?

They are I/O boards for Extron XTP II matrix frames. Confirm frame model, available slots, and power budget against your board count during design.

What is the difference between the input and output boards?

The XTP II CP 4i F 8K input board provides four selectable XTP fiber or HDMI inputs. The XTP II CP 4o SF 8K output board provides four scaled XTP fiber outputs plus unscaled local HDMI outputs, with Vector 4K scaling.

Why does the output board scale?

So each destination receives a resolution matched to its display rather than inheriting the source resolution and relying on the display's internal scaler. In a matrix serving mixed display types, that produces consistent image quality across the system.

How many fibers per link?

Two, carrying video, embedded audio, bidirectional RS-232, and 1 Gbps Ethernet together to each endpoint.

Which endpoints pair with these boards?

Typically the Extron XTP II FT 402 8K transmitter on inputs and the XTP II FR 401 8K receiver on outputs, in the matching fiber mode.

Do I have to choose one fiber mode for the whole system?

Each board is either multimode or singlemode, so a mixed plant can be served by populating the frame with boards of both types. The endpoint at the far end of each link must match that link's board.

What is the availability?

Extron lists these boards as call for availability. Contact Creation Networks and we will confirm current lead time and pricing for your configuration.

What design support is available?

We can review frame capacity, slot allocation, fiber type and strand count, and endpoint pairing before you order, and coordinate Extron warranty and RMA handling.
