Product Description

The Extron XPA U 758 is an ENERGY STAR qualified eight-channel low-impedance power amplifier delivering 75 watts per channel into 8 ohm loads from a fanless, convection-cooled 1U half-rack enclosure. As the industry's first eight-channel half-rack amplifier, this Class D model gives commercial AV integrators high channel density for distributed audio without consuming rack space for ventilation, making it well suited to corporate, education, hospitality, and worship installations that require many low-impedance speaker channels in a compact footprint.

Because the XPA U 758 uses convection cooling with no internal fans, no chassis heatsinks, and an internal Everlast power supply, multiple units can be stacked directly in a rack without empty ventilation spaces. With the optional Flexible Conduit Adapter Kit (part 70-228-02), the amplifier meets UL 2043 for installation in plenum airspaces above a drop ceiling, concealing the amplifier and freeing in-room space. Extron's patented CDRS Class D Ripple Suppression removes the high-frequency switching ripple typical of Class D designs, reducing RF emissions that can interfere with wireless microphones and other sensitive AV equipment.

The XPA U 758 is built for eight-zone low-impedance applications such as background music, paging, and meeting-room reinforcement, and integrates with Extron audio processors, matrix switchers, and control systems. For installations that require 70V/100V distributed audio or higher per-channel power, compare the four-channel configurable XPA U 2004 FX (200 W/ch) and XPA U 4004 FX (400 W/ch), or browse the full Extron collection.

Extron XPA U 758 Eight Channel Low Impedance Amplifier 75 Watts Per Channel

Key Features

  • Eight 75-Watt Low-Impedance Channels — The amplifier delivers 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms (50 watts into 4 ohms) with all channels driven, supporting up to eight independent low-impedance speaker zones.
  • High Channel Density Half-Rack Design — Eight channels fit in a 1U half-rack enclosure with single and side-by-side rack-mount hardware included, reducing rack space for distributed audio systems.
  • Fanless Convection Cooling — The amplifier needs no internal fans or vents and can be stacked in a rack without empty ventilation spaces, ensuring quiet, reliable operation.
  • Plenum-Rated Installation Option — With the optional Flexible Conduit Adapter Kit, the XPA U 758 meets UL 2043 for placement in plenum airspaces above a drop ceiling.
  • Patented CDRS Class D Ripple Suppression — Extron's CDRS technology removes high-frequency switching ripple, improving signal fidelity and reducing RF emissions that can interfere with wireless microphones.
  • InstaWake Auto-Standby — The amplifier draws under one watt in standby and returns to full output in under 100 milliseconds on signal detection, with auto-standby defeatable while retaining ENERGY STAR qualification.
  • Professional Audio Performance — The amplifier achieves a 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio, THD+N below 0.1 percent, and a damping factor greater than 100 at 8 ohms.
  • Comprehensive Protection Circuitry — Automatic clip limiting plus thermal, short-circuit, and DC-fault protection safeguard both the amplifier and connected loudspeakers.
  • Extron Everlast Power Supply — The internal Everlast supply provides worldwide power compatibility and is backed by a 7-year parts and labor warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the XPA U 758 support 70V or 100V distributed audio?

No. The XPA U 758 is a low-impedance amplifier that drives 4 ohm and 8 ohm loads only. For 70V or 100V constant-voltage distributed audio, consider the configurable-output XPA U 2004 FX or XPA U 4004 FX.

Can it be installed without leaving rack space for ventilation?

Yes. The XPA U 758 uses fanless convection cooling with no vents, so multiple units can be stacked directly in an equipment rack without empty rack spaces above the amplifiers.

Can the amplifier be mounted above a drop ceiling?

Yes, when used with the optional Flexible Conduit Adapter Kit (part 70-228-02), the XPA U 758 meets UL 2043 for heat and smoke release, allowing installation within a plenum airspace above a drop ceiling.

Why does CDRS matter in an AV system?

Extron's patented CDRS Class D Ripple Suppression eliminates the high-frequency switching ripple characteristic of Class D amplifiers. This improves audio fidelity and reduces RF emissions that could otherwise interfere with wireless microphones and other sensitive AV equipment sharing the installation.

What warranty and support are included?

The amplifier carries a 3-year parts and labor warranty, and the internal Extron Everlast power supply is covered for 7 years parts and labor. Creation Networks provides pre-sale system design guidance and post-sale support for commercial AV integrators. Explore related models in the Extron collection.
