Product Overview
The Extron DTP R HWP 4K 231 D is a single-gang decorator-style receiver that anchors the display end of a DTP 230 link, recovering HDMI, analog audio, and bidirectional RS-232 and IR up to 230 feet (70 m) over a single shielded CATx cable. As an HDMI over CATx wallplate receiver, it lets integrators place output connections precisely at a display, lectern, or floor box without a local source. It supports resolutions up to 4K and pairs with any Extron DTP-enabled transmitter, switcher, or matrix switcher for clean commercial deployment.
Product Description

The DTP R HWP 4K 231 D is a DTP 230 HDMI receiver built for permanent commercial AV installations where cable distance and a clean wall finish both matter. It receives HDMI plus embedded audio, analog stereo audio, and control signals over one shielded twisted pair run, eliminating separate cable pulls for audio and control. The single-gang decorator-style faceplate fits a standard US one-gang junction box, making it a practical single-gang AV wallplate receiver for conference rooms, huddle rooms, and training rooms.
On the output side, the receiver provides one HDMI (or single-link DVI-D with an adapter) connection and a dedicated 3.5 mm captive-screw analog audio output, so a display and a separate audio system can be fed at the same location. DDC communication of EDID and HDCP 2.3 is maintained end to end, keeping sources and displays reliably handshaked. Bidirectional RS-232 and IR pass-through let a control system reach the remote display and AV devices without additional wiring, which is why this 4K HDMI extender over twisted pair fits so cleanly into managed conference room HDMI extension designs.
The DTP output can also be configured to interoperate with HDBaseT-enabled displays, making the DTP R HWP 4K 231 D a flexible HDBaseT compatible DTP receiver. For simplified installation, the unit can be remotely powered over the twisted pair cable by a DTP-enabled product, or run locally from the included Extron Everlast power supply. Extron XTP DTP 24 shielded twisted pair cable is strongly recommended, with solid 24 AWG or better conductors required for rated performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which transmitters and switchers is the DTP R HWP 4K 231 D compatible with?
It works with all Extron DTP 230 Series transmitters and DTP-enabled products, including DTP CrossPoint and DTP3 CrossPoint presentation matrix switchers, DTP HD distribution amplifiers, and DTP wallplate and desktop transmitters. Mix-and-match desktop and wallplate endpoints are supported within a DTP system.
How far can it send 4K, and what cable should I use?
1080p/60 reaches up to 230 ft (70 m), while 2560x1600/60 and 4K/UHD at 30 and 60 Hz reach up to 130 ft (40 m). Use solid-conductor shielded twisted pair rated 24 AWG or better; Extron XTP DTP 24 cable is strongly recommended for rated performance.
How is it installed and powered?
The receiver mounts in the included single-gang decorator-style wallplate and fits a standard US one-gang junction box. It can be remotely powered over the twisted pair cable by a DTP-enabled product, or powered locally by the included Extron Everlast supply, allowing both endpoints to share a single supply.
Can it integrate with a control system for RS-232 and IR?
Yes. Bidirectional RS-232 and IR pass-through are carried alongside the video signal, so a control processor can operate the remote display and connected AV devices without additional control cabling.
Is it compatible with HDBaseT displays?
The DTP output can be configured to interoperate with HDBaseT-enabled displays, sending video and embedded audio plus bidirectional RS-232 and IR. In DTP mode it also carries analog audio and remote power.
Does it meet government and TAA procurement requirements?
A DoDIN APL approved product is available and a TAA Compliant version can be ordered. Inform your Creation Networks representative if your order requires TAA compliance.
What warranty and support are included?
The receiver carries a 3-year parts-and-labor warranty, and the Everlast power supply is covered for 7 years. Contact Creation Networks for pre-sales design help and post-sales technical support.
