Product Overview

The Eaton PDUMH30HVAT is a 5.8kW single-phase local metered automatic transfer switch (ATS) PDU that provides a redundant power option for single-corded network devices. Running on dual 200-240V L6-30P inputs, this metered ATS PDU is built for data centers and server rooms that need dual-source redundancy with local, real-time power visibility. It's a solid choice anywhere fault-tolerant UPS protection needs to be extended to equipment without dual power supplies.

Product Description

The PDUMH30HVAT accepts dual input cords supporting separate connection to primary and secondary power sources, and normally maintains continuous output to all outlets from the primary input. If the primary power source becomes unstable or fails altogether, the ATS switches over to the secondary source until the primary is restored and stable, with highly reliable solid-state switching occurring in 1 to 5 milliseconds. ATS functionality is supported by any two compatible AC power sources regardless of phase angle, accommodating a range of advanced redundant power networking configurations. This makes the unit well suited for fault-tolerant, hot-swappable UPS protection when used with a single UPS, and for fully redundant UPS protection when each input cord connects to a separate UPS system; in a two-UPS environment, the primary input should be supported by a full-time sine wave UPS with zero transfer time, and Tripp Lite's SmartOnline series is recommended for that role. ATS configurations using separate mains circuits, backup generators, and even separate utility grid feeds are all fully supported. An on-board ATS processor continuously evaluates power quality on both input sources to prevent transfer to a secondary source that is unavailable or of lower quality than the primary, and front input LEDs display primary or secondary power availability at a glance. For data centers running dual power feeds into single-corded server or network equipment, this local metered ATS PDU delivers redundancy without requiring dual-corded hardware.

Key Features

  • Automatic Transfer Switching — Solid-state switching between primary and secondary power sources occurs in 1-5 milliseconds if the primary becomes unstable.
  • Dual L6-30P Inputs — Separate primary and secondary 200-240V input connections support a variety of redundant power configurations.
  • Phase-Angle Independent — ATS functionality works with any two compatible AC sources regardless of phase angle.
  • Fault-Tolerant UPS Support — Compatible with single-UPS hot-swap protection or fully redundant dual-UPS configurations.
  • Front Input Status LEDs — Local LEDs display primary and secondary power availability for quick visual status checks.
  • On-Board Power Quality Monitoring — The ATS processor prevents transfer to a secondary source that is unavailable or of lower quality than the primary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this PDU require both input cords to be connected to the same UPS?

No. The two inputs can connect to separate mains circuits, backup generators, separate utility grid feeds, or two independent UPS systems for fully redundant protection.

What happens if the primary power source fails?

The ATS transfers connected equipment to the secondary source using solid-state switching within 1-5 milliseconds, and switches back once the primary is restored and stable.

Do the two input sources need to be in phase with each other?

No. ATS functionality on this unit is supported by any two compatible AC power sources regardless of phase angle.

What kind of UPS is recommended for the primary input in a two-UPS configuration?

A full-time sine wave UPS with zero transfer time is recommended for the primary input; Tripp Lite's SmartOnline series is specifically recommended for this role.

How can I tell which power source is currently active?

Front input LEDs on the PDU display the availability status of both the primary and secondary sources for a quick visual check.

What warranty does Eaton provide on this unit?

Eaton backs this unit with its standard manufacturer warranty; contact Creation Networks for the current term and any extended coverage options.
