Product Overview

The Draper Acumen XL V is a large-venue motorized projection screen built for auditoriums, houses of worship, and command centers that need a screen wider than a standard conference room model. This 208 3/8" diagonal 21:9 Ultrawide unit is a tab tensioned motorized screen that mounts to a wall or ceiling rather than recessing into one, giving integrators an electric projection screen option for rooms where a ceiling pocket isn't available or practical.

Product Description

Draper Acumen XL V motorized projection screen, surface-mounted

Acumen XL V extends Draper's Acumen platform up into large-venue sizes without moving to a ceiling-recessed design, which keeps installation simpler on retrofit and renovation jobs where cutting a pocket into the structure above isn't an option. As a commercial motorized screen, it uses a tab-tensioned viewing surface with RF-welded tabs and a lateral tab-guide cable system, which keeps the image flat and free of waves at large scale — a real consideration once a screen crosses into the size range this model covers.

The extruded-aluminum case is finished in white powder coat as standard, with black available on request, and the fascia is removable for direct access to the roller and motor during service calls. It ships with a built-in low-voltage controller and wall switch as standard, and integrates with third-party control systems including Crestron and Control4, so it drops into an existing room-control scheme rather than requiring a separate control path. Floating wall brackets and ceiling suspension brackets are both included with every unit, which means the same screen serves as either a wall mounted motorized screen or a ceiling mount motorized screen depending on how a given room is built, without ordering separate hardware for each mounting style.

This particular configuration covers the 208 3/8" diagonal size in 21:9 Ultrawide format, available in your choice of viewing surface, 110V or 220V motor voltage, and motor option using the selectors above. As a large venue projection screen, it suits rooms where the audience sits far enough back that a residential or small-conference screen wouldn't deliver a usable image.

Key Features

  • Tab-tensioned viewing surface — RF-welded tabs and a lateral guide-cable system keep the image flat at large-venue scale.
  • Dual mounting hardware included — floating wall brackets and ceiling suspension brackets both ship standard, so one unit covers wall or ceiling installs.
  • Removable fascia — the case front comes off for direct access to the roller and motor during service, without removing the whole screen.
  • Built-in low-voltage controller — a wall switch ships standard, with Crestron and Control4 compatibility for integration into an existing room-control system.
  • 110V or 220V motor — the low-voltage tubular motor is instantly reversible with an electric brake and thermal overload protector, specified for the voltage a project needs.
  • White or black case finish — white powder coat ships standard, with black available for rooms where the case needs to disappear against dark millwork or trim.
  • Full Draper surface line available — including TecVision surfaces and rear-projection options, selected per project requirement.
  • 7-year warranty — valid in the United States and Canada.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Acumen XL V wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted?
Both, from the same unit. It's a surface-mounted screen, not ceiling-recessed, and ships with floating wall brackets and ceiling suspension brackets included, so the installer chooses the mount at the job site.

Does it integrate with Crestron, Control4, or other room-control systems?
Yes. The built-in low-voltage controller is designed to integrate with third-party control systems, and Creation Networks can confirm compatibility with your specific control platform before you order — see the full Draper projection screen lineup for related models and accessories.

What voltage options are available?
110V and 220V. Select the voltage your project requires using the selector above; the motor is not field-convertible between voltages.

Can this screen be used for rear projection?
Yes, rear-projection viewing surfaces are available for this model — specify at time of order.

What's the difference between this and a ceiling-recessed motorized screen?
A ceiling-recessed screen hides the case inside a pocket built into the ceiling; this surface-mounted model's case remains visible against the wall or ceiling. Surface mounting is typically faster and less expensive to install, particularly on retrofit projects.

What is the warranty?
7 years, valid in the United States and Canada.
