Product Overview
The Draper Acumen XL E is a large-venue motorized projection screen with an elegantly contoured, radiused case that suits modern commercial interiors. This 255" diagonal 16:10 unit is a surface-mounted electric projection screen that installs against a wall or ceiling rather than recessing into one, making it a practical large venue projection screen option for auditoriums, conference centers, and ballrooms where a ceiling pocket isn't available.
Product Description
.webp)
Acumen XL E is built around a Series E non-tensioned, free-hanging viewing surface, kept flat by the weight of the surface and a bottom dowel rather than tab-tensioning. As a commercial motorized screen, it's engineered for large-venue sizes while keeping a smooth, curved aluminum housing that reads as finished trim rather than utilitarian hardware once installed.
The case is finished in white powder coat as standard, with black available on request, and the radiused fascia is removable for direct access to the roller and motor during service. It ships with a built-in low-voltage controller and wall switch as standard, and the Low Voltage LVC-IV controller option supports integration with Crestron, AMX, and other third-party AV control systems. Floating wall and ceiling mounting brackets are included, so the same unit works as either a wall mounted motorized screen or a ceiling mount motorized screen without separate hardware.
This configuration covers the 255" diagonal size in 16:10 format, available in your choice of OptiView viewing surface and 110V or 220V motor voltage using the selectors above. It suits auditoriums, conference centers, ballrooms, and other large commercial venues that need a big, retractable image without a ceiling-recessed installation.
Key Features
- Contoured, radiused case — a smooth curved aluminum housing that blends into modern commercial interiors when retracted.
- Dual mounting hardware included — floating wall and ceiling brackets both ship standard, so one unit covers wall or ceiling installs.
- Removable radiused fascia — comes off for direct access to the roller and motor during service, without dismounting the case.
- Built-in low-voltage controller — a wall switch ships standard, with an optional LVC-IV controller for Crestron, AMX, and other AV control system integration.
- 110V or 220V motor — internally mounted, instantly reversible, with thermal overload protection, an electric brake, and factory-set limits.
- White or black case finish — white powder coat ships standard, with black available for rooms where the case needs to disappear against dark trim.
- OptiView viewing surface line — including Matt White and Contrast Grey options, selected per project ambient-light and gain requirements.
- 7-year warranty — valid in the United States and Canada.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Acumen XL E a tensioned or non-tensioned screen?
Non-tensioned. It's a Series E, free-hanging design kept flat by the weight of the surface and a bottom dowel, rather than tab-tensioning.
Is it wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted?
Both, from the same unit. It's a surface-mounted screen, not ceiling-recessed, and ships with floating wall and ceiling brackets included.
Does it integrate with Crestron, AMX, or other room-control systems?
Yes, via the optional LVC-IV low-voltage controller. Creation Networks can confirm compatibility with your specific control platform before you order — see the full Draper projection screen lineup for related models and accessories.
What voltage options are available?
110V and 220V. Select the voltage your project requires using the selector above; the motor is not field-convertible between voltages.
What's the difference between the Acumen XL E and Acumen XL V?
The XL V uses a tab-tensioned viewing surface for a perfectly flat image at large sizes; the XL E uses a non-tensioned, free-hanging surface. The E line's contoured, radiused case is also a different aesthetic from the V line's straight case profile.
What is the warranty?
7 years, valid in the United States and Canada.
