Product Overview

The Draper Acumen Recharge V is a battery-powered, wireless, tab-tensioned electric projection screen that installs like a manual screen — no electrician and no line voltage required. Select your screen size and format from the options above.

What tensioning does

The V is the tensioned version of the Acumen Recharge. Side tab cables hold the viewing surface flat across its full width, rather than letting it hang from the roller alone. An untensioned screen develops waves as the fabric relaxes, and those show up as visible distortion on bright content and straight lines — progressively worse as size increases.

Above roughly 100 inches diagonal, specify tensioned unless budget rules it out. Below that the difference is smaller, though still visible in a well-lit room with high-contrast content. If the room is a boardroom where the screen is on every day and the image quality is noticed, the tensioned version is the one to quote.

Product Description

Like the rest of the Acumen Recharge range, the V runs from a lithium-ion battery inside the roller, charged from a 5V USB wall adapter using the supplied 12-foot cable. Control is via a wireless RF handheld transmitter as standard, with an optional wireless wall switch or dry contact interface for integration into a room control system.

The contoured aluminium case mounts to wall or ceiling using included floating brackets that grip the back of the case rather than requiring exact fastener alignment through it — which in a retrofit is usually what decides whether the install takes an afternoon or a day.

Key Features

  • Tab-tensioned surface — holds the screen flat across its width for a distortion-free image.
  • No wiring or electrician required — installs like a manual screen.
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery — 5V/2A USB charger with a 12-foot cable included.
  • Wireless control — RF handheld remote standard; wall switch or dry contact interface optional.
  • Fifteen sizes and four formats — HDTV 16:9, 16:10 widescreen, CinemaScope and 2K/4K Full.

Choosing a size and format

Match the format to the projector's native aspect ratio rather than to the wall. A 16:9 screen fed by a 16:10 projector throws away vertical resolution; the reverse letterboxes the image. HDTV 16:9 suits video and streaming content, 16:10 matches most WUXGA and WXGA installation projectors, CinemaScope 2.35:1 is for dedicated screening rooms, and 2K/4K Full covers 17:9 digital cinema formats.

Size follows viewing distance and seating rather than available wall width. As a working rule, the furthest seat should sit no more than six times the image height away, and the nearest no closer than one and a half times.

Typical Applications

  • Corporate boardrooms where image quality is scrutinised daily
  • Retrofit installations with no line voltage at the screen position
  • Leased space where permanent electrical work is not permitted
  • Houses of worship, training rooms and executive briefing centres

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Acumen Recharge V and the E?
The V is tab-tensioned and the E is free-hanging. Tensioning holds the surface flat and prevents the waves that develop in an untensioned screen, which matters most above roughly 100 inches.

Does this screen need an electrician?
No. The battery charges from a standard USB wall adapter, so the screen installs like a manual one with no line voltage at the screen position.

Can it be controlled from a room control system?
Yes — an optional dry contact interface allows integration with Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS and similar platforms alongside the standard RF remote.

Can it be ceiling mounted?
Yes. The included floating brackets support wall or ceiling mounting, and ceiling mounting is the right choice where a whiteboard or display sits behind the screen position.

Do you provide installation?
Yes. Creation Networks is an authorized Draper dealer and handles screen selection, throw calculation, installation and commissioning nationwide.
