Product Overview
The Crestron FT2A-CBLR-GR-USB is a gravity-assisted retractable USB 2.0 cable module for Crestron FT2 Series FlipTop cable management systems. It provides a precision track-and-pulley retraction mechanism for a USB Type-A to Type-B cable that extends up to 2.83 ft (0.86 m) above the table and retracts by lifting the cable vertically.

Unlike the spring-powered one-touch retractors, the FT2A-CBLR-GR-USB uses a gravity-assisted mechanism: the cable pulls out as needed and retracts smoothly when lifted. The USB Type-A connector at the tabletop end connects to laptops and computers, while the USB Type-B adapter tail beneath the table connects to codecs, extenders, and similar AV equipment. Note that this cable connects a computer to a peripheral device and cannot be used for PC-to-PC connections. The module occupies two consecutive module spaces in any FT2 Series FlipTop chassis. A blue LED icon indicator illuminates when installed in FT2 ELEC Series FlipTops; it remains visible but unlit in FT2 MECH Series. The under-table retractor enclosure requires a minimum 28.4 in. - What is the difference between the gravity retractor and the one-touch spring retractor?
- The gravity retractor (FT2A-CBLR-GR series) uses a precision track-and-pulley mechanism where the cable retracts by lifting it vertically. The one-touch spring retractor (FT2A-CBLR-1T series) uses an electrically clutched spring mechanism with a pushbutton to retract automatically. The gravity retractor requires significantly more under-table clearance (28.4 in. vs. 11.6 in. for the one-touch variants).
- Can this USB cable be used to connect two computers?
- No. The FT2A-CBLR-GR-USB connects a USB Type-A host (computer) to a USB Type-B peripheral (codec, extender, or similar device). PC-to-PC connections are not supported with a standard USB cable of this type.
- Is this compatible with the FT2 MECH Series FlipTop?
- Yes. The FT2A-CBLR-GR-USB is compatible with both FT2 ELEC and FT2 MECH Series FlipTop systems. The LED indicator illuminates only in ELEC Series installations; in MECH Series it remains visible but unlit.
