Crestron DM-NVX-E20 – DM NVX 4K60 4:2:0 Network AV Encoder
Product Overview
The Crestron DM-NVX-E20 is a compact, fanless 4K60 4:2:0 AV-over-IP encoder — the cost-optimized dedicated encoder for video content, camera feeds, and display sources where 4:2:0 chroma sampling is appropriate and the 4:4:4 performance of the NVX-E30 is not required. At just 8.6W typical consumption on standard PoE (802.3af), it is the most power-efficient encoder in the DM NVX standalone lineup and suits under-table, surface-mount, and space-constrained encoder positions where a fanless, compact form factor (H: 5.04 in.) is preferred.
Product Description
4:2:0 chroma sampling is the production standard for video content — broadcast television, streaming video, live camera feeds, and pre-rendered digital signage content are all natively 4:2:0, making the DM-NVX-E20 a fully appropriate and more cost-effective encoder than the NVX-E30 for those source types. The NVX-E20 is not intended for computer graphics, presentation content, or UI output where 4:4:4 is needed to preserve text and color fidelity. Maximum resolution is 4K60 at 4:2:0 (or 4K30 at 4:4:4 for sources that output at that combination). The fanless chassis eliminates fan noise entirely for sound-sensitive environments such as boardrooms, theaters, and executive spaces where encoder fan noise at a table edge or under-display mount would be noticed. PoE (802.3af, 12.95W) — not PoE+ — means the E20 can draw power from a broader range of managed switches including those with 802.3af-only PoE ports, without requiring a full PoE+ budget per port. AES67 audio at 24-bit 48kHz integrates with Dante/AES67 audio networks alongside the video stream. RS-232, IR, and CEC device control extend to the source location. Wall plate form factor variants (DM-NVX-E20-2G-B-T in black, DM-NVX-E20-2G-W-T in white) install directly in a 2-gang electrical box at table-edge or wall HDMI input positions.
Key Features
- 4K60 4:2:0 Encoding: Maximum resolution 4096×2160@60Hz at 4:2:0 (4K30 4:4:4 also supported) — appropriate for video sources, camera feeds, and digital signage content.
- Fanless Operation: No fan — completely silent for sound-sensitive boardroom, theater, and executive under-table or under-display encoder installations.
- Standard PoE (802.3af, 12.95W): 8.6W typical power consumption from any 802.3af-compliant switch port — most power-efficient standalone DM NVX encoder, works with 802.3af switches that do not support PoE+.
- Compact Chassis: H: 5.04 in. (128mm) × W: 9.05 in. (230mm) × D: 1.00 in. (26mm) — smallest standalone DM NVX encoder form factor.
- HDCP 2.3 and AES-128/PKI Security: Enterprise copy protection and content encryption.
- 802.1X, Active Directory, TLS, SSH, HTTPS: Enterprise IT security compliance.
- AES67 Audio (24-bit 48kHz): Network audio integration alongside the video stream.
- Analog Audio I/O: Configurable stereo input or output; volume −80 to +20 dB; S/N >95 dB; THD+N <0.0005%.
- 7.1 Surround Sound Transport: HBR 7.1 surround pass-through in the encoded stream.
- RS-232 and IR Device Control.
- Wall Plate Variants: DM-NVX-E20-2G-B-T (black) and DM-NVX-E20-2G-W-T (white) 2-gang wall plate form factor.
Typical Applications
- Camera encoder (PTZ, fixed) for IP video distribution where 4:2:0 video encoding is the content standard
- Digital signage media player encoder for 4K60 4:2:0 content distribution over DM NVX
- Boardroom and executive conference room under-table encoder where fanless silent operation is required
- Mixed DM NVX system where video-source positions use E20 (lower cost, fanless) and presentation/graphics positions use E30 (4:4:4)
- PoE-budget-conscious deployments where 802.3af (not PoE+) switches are installed

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the key difference between DM-NVX-E20 and DM-NVX-E30?
The E20 encodes at 4:2:0 chroma (appropriate for video sources and cameras) and is fanless with 8.6W PoE (802.3af) consumption. The E30 encodes at 4:4:4 (required for graphics and presentation content) and uses PoE+ at 15W. Specify E20 for video sources; specify E30 for graphics, presentation, and PC desktop sources. Contact Creation Networks.
Does the DM-NVX-E20 support HDR?
The E20 supports HDMI with Deep Color but does not specify HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision support — unlike the NVX-E30, D30, and NVX-360 series. For HDR source encoding, specify the DM-NVX-E30 or DM-NVX-360. Contact Creation Networks.
