Product Overview
The C2G C2G54278 1-Port USB-C Extender Transmitter to Receiver Kit extends USB-C data signals up to 33 feet using a CM-rated link cable, designed for conference rooms, huddle spaces, and classrooms where USB peripherals need to be placed beyond the native 16.4-foot USB cable limit. Leveraging USB 3.2 Gen 1 at 5 Gbps, this USB-C extender supports up to 30 connected USB devices and requires no software or drivers. The transmitter is bus-powered with an optional 5V DC input for supplemental power when needed.
Product Description

The C2G54278 kit includes a transmitter unit, receiver unit, and a 33ft (10m) CM-rated ARJ45 link cable. Each unit presents a single USB 3.2 Type-C port. The transmitter connects to the host computer or USB-C source, and the receiver connects to the USB-C peripheral at the remote end. The CM-rated link cable is suited for surface runs, cable trays, and conduit installations in commercial AV environments.

Note: The USB-C port on this extender is for data only at 5 Gbps — DisplayPort Alt Mode video is not supported. This kit is the standard cable-rated counterpart to the C2G54279 (plenum-rated). For above-ceiling or in-wall runs requiring NEC plenum compliance, specify the C2G54279 instead. Both units are CE marked and conform to RoHS 2.
Key Features
- USB 3.2 Gen 1 at 5 Gbps — SuperSpeed USB data at 5 Gbps supports cameras, microphones, storage, and other high-bandwidth USB peripherals over the extended run.
- 33ft Extension with CM-Rated Cable — Included ARJ45 CM-rated link cable extends USB-C up to 33ft (10m), overcoming the 16.4ft native USB cable limitation.

- Supports Up to 30 USB Devices via Hubs — When used with downstream USB hubs, the extension run supports up to 30 total USB devices.
- Bus Power with Optional DC Input — Transmitter is bus-powered from the host; optional 5V 3A DC jack (C2G98019/C2G98020, sold separately) for installations requiring supplemental power.
- Plug-and-Play, No Drivers Required — Compatible with any OS supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1; no software installation needed for commercial deployment.
- RoHS 2 Compliant, CE Marked — Meets EU environmental and electromagnetic compliance standards.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between C2G54278 and C2G54279?
The C2G54278 includes a CM-rated ARJ45 link cable for surface runs, cable trays, and conduit. The C2G54279 includes a plenum-rated (CMP) cable for above-ceiling and in-wall runs where NEC plenum compliance is required. Choose based on your installation environment and local building code.
- Does this extender support USB-C video?
No. The USB-C port on each unit is for data only at 5 Gbps. DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB-C video output are not supported. A separate HDMI or DisplayPort adapter is needed for video extension.
- Can I use this with a USB-A host?
A USB-A to USB-C adapter would be required at the host end, as both transmitter and receiver have USB-C ports. Adapters are not included.
- How many devices can I connect through this extender?
Up to 30 USB devices including hubs. Each hub in the chain counts toward this total.
