Product Overview

The BrightSign GPIO-TB-6 is a six-pin Phoenix-style terminal block for the GPIO interface on BrightSign HD, XD and XT players. It plugs into the player's 12-pin GPIO connector and gives screw terminals for bare-wire connections to buttons, sensors, LEDs and contact closures. This BrightSign GPIO terminal block is the part to have on hand for any interactive kiosk or push-button signage install.

Product Description

BrightSign players use a 12-pin GPIO switch and LED connector, a standard design made by Phoenix Contact, Wurth Electronics and others. BrightSign's hardware documentation recommends 4-pin or 6-pin pluggable blocks and warns that 12-pin blocks are extremely difficult to remove from the port, which is why a six-pin block is the practical choice. Two GPIO-TB-6 blocks fill the full connector when all eight button lines are needed.

The connector is on the BrightSign HD225, BrightSign XD235 and BrightSign XT245, where the GPIO port supplies 3.3V at 300mA to the power pins and can sink or source 24mA on each button pin. That covers momentary push buttons, motion or proximity sensors, status LEDs and dry contact closures from show-control or room-control systems. In BrightSign Author or BrightScript, each GPIO input can trigger a content change, which is how most push-to-play museum and retail displays are built.

The BrightSign XC2055 uses the same 12-pin GPIO design when it runs BrightSignOS; GPIO is not supported on XC5 players running Windows. See the BrightSign collection for players with GPIO.

Key Features

  • Six-pin pluggable block — A six-pin block covers half of the 12-pin GPIO connector and stays easy to remove for service.
  • Bare-wire screw terminals — Field wiring lands on screw terminals, so buttons and sensors connect without soldering.
  • BrightSign-recommended size — BrightSign documentation recommends 4-pin or 6-pin blocks because 12-pin blocks are hard to remove.
  • Fits HD, XD and XT GPIO — It matches the 12-pin GPIO connector on BrightSign HD, XD and XT players.
  • Interactive signage wiring — It connects push buttons, sensors, LEDs and contact closures that drive content changes.
