Product Overview

The Ashly FX500.2 is a two-channel power amplifier with built-in Protea DSP delivering 500W per channel at 2 or 4 ohms and 70V/100V constant-voltage capability, combining stereo or two-zone amplification with comprehensive digital signal processing in a single compact unit. Network-accessible via Ethernet or built-in Wi-Fi for browser-based control, the FX500.2 serves commercial AV installations where a two-channel high-power amplifier with integrated DSP is needed without the cost or rack space of a separate processor. It is the two-channel counterpart to the FX500.4 in the Ashly FX half-rack amplifier with DSP lineup.

Product Description

Ashly FX500.2 two-channel power amplifier with DSP half-rack form factor

The Ashly FX500.2 provides 500W per channel at 2 or 4 ohms across two independent output channels, with 4 input channels feeding the DSP matrix that routes to the 2 amplifier outputs. Dynamic Power Sharing enables up to 750W on a single channel at 2 ohms when the other channel is undriven, providing additional headroom for demanding loads. In bridge-mono configuration, the FX500.2 delivers 1,000W at 70V/100V for transformer-tapped distributed speaker systems. The integrated Protea DSP engine processes all inputs and outputs with full function coverage: sensitivity, routing matrix, gain, parametric EQ, compressor, limiter, FIR filters, crossover, polarity inversion, and delay. Configuration and control are handled entirely through a browser-based interface accessible from any PC or mobile device via Ethernet or the built-in Wi-Fi access point, with no software installation required on the controlling device. Digital S/PDIF inputs and outputs allow connection to digital audio sources and processors. Addressable GPIO, standby/mute, and remote VC ports integrate with building control systems and wall-panel volume controls, with VC assignment software-configurable per channel. Custom speaker presets can be saved per output channel and recalled for different system configurations or event setups. Auto/Manual Power Saver mode reduces power draw during idle periods, appropriate for installations with scheduled use patterns. The half-rack form factor fits standard mounting configurations and optional hardware supports wall or surface mounting in non-rack installations, making the FX500.2 practical for concealed installation environments such as AV closets, under-furniture mounting, and millwork installations.

Key Features

  • 2 x 500W Class D Output — Each channel delivers 500W at 2 or 4 ohms; bridge mode produces 1,000W at 70V/100V for distributed speaker systems.
  • Dynamic Power Sharing — Up to 750W available on a single channel at 2 ohms when the other channel is undriven.
  • 4-Input x 2-Output DSP Engine — Full Protea DSP processing on all inputs and outputs with sensitivity, routing, gain, PEQ, compressor, limiter, FIR filters, crossover, polarity, and delay.
  • Browser-Based Control, No Software Required — Configurable from any web browser on PC or mobile device without installing any application.
  • Ethernet and Built-In Wi-Fi (WAP) — Dual connectivity for wired LAN or wireless hotspot DSP access.
  • Digital S/PDIF I/O — Digital audio inputs and outputs for integration with digital source equipment.
  • Custom Speaker Presets Per Output — Save and recall speaker processing presets per channel for flexible system reconfiguration.
  • Addressable GPIO, Standby/Mute, and VC Ports — Integration ports for control systems and wall-panel volume controls, software-assignable per channel.
  • Auto/Manual Power Saver Mode — Configurable sleep/standby to reduce power draw in installations with defined use schedules.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the FX500.2 and FX500.4?
Both share identical DSP engines and per-channel amplifier specifications. The FX500.2 provides two amplifier output channels with a 4-input x 2-output DSP configuration, while the FX500.4 provides four amplifier output channels with 4-input x 4-output DSP. Choose the FX500.2 for stereo or two-zone applications.
Can the FX500.2 drive 70V distributed speaker systems?
Yes. In bridge-mono configuration the FX500.2 delivers 1,000W at 70V, making it compatible with transformer-tapped 70V distributed audio speaker systems.
Does the FX500.2 require any dedicated software to operate?
No. The FX500.2 uses a browser-based interface accessible from any web browser on a PC or mobile device. No software or application installation is required on the controlling device.
Can the FX500.2 be mounted outside a standard rack?
Yes. The half-rack form factor is designed for non-rack installations in AV closets, under furniture, or surface-mounted locations. Optional mounting hardware supports both rack and wall/surface installation configurations.
What DSP processing is included in the FX500.2?
The integrated Protea DSP engine includes sensitivity adjustment, routing matrix, gain, parametric EQ, compressor, limiter, FIR filters, crossover, polarity inversion, and delay on all input and output channels. Custom speaker presets can be saved and recalled per output channel.
