Product Overview
The Allied Telesis AT-IE340-12GT-80 is a non-PoE industrial Ethernet Layer 3 managed switch providing 8 x 10/100/1000T copper ports and 4 x 100/1000X SFP uplinks in a DIN rail and wall-mountable metal enclosure rated for -40°C to +75°C. Like the IE340-12GT-980, this switch does not provide Power over Ethernet on any port — engineers requiring PoE+ should select the IE340-12GP platform instead. The AT-IE340-12GT-80 Allied Telesis IE340 industrial Layer 3 switch uses the -80 suffix to designate its specific PSU configuration and regional variant, distinct from the -980 SKU. Both variants share the IE340-12GT base hardware platform including 24Gbps switch fabric, 17.8Mpps forwarding rate, AlliedWare Plus operating system, and full industrial protocol support. Contact Creation Networks to confirm which variant is correct for your power infrastructure before ordering.
Product Description
The IE340-12GT-80 delivers a 24Gbps non-blocking switch fabric and 17.8Mpps forwarding throughput across its 12-port configuration. The switch supports 16K MAC addresses, 4K VLANs, 9KB jumbo frames, and 8 QoS priority queues. For multicast-intensive industrial applications such as SCADA polling and distributed camera streams, 511 Layer 2 and 256 Layer 3 multicast groups are supported. Alarm input and output ports provide direct hardwired integration with industrial control panel fault signaling systems. AlliedWare Plus runs the full enterprise feature stack: IEEE 802.1X port-based authentication, dynamic VLAN assignment, ACLs, DHCP snooping, and Allied Telesis Autonomous Management Framework (AMF) for network-wide automated management and zero-touch device recovery. AMF is particularly valuable for remote industrial deployments where on-site IT support is not available; a failed switch can be automatically provisioned with its correct configuration on replacement with no manual intervention. EPSRing and IEEE G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection provide sub-50ms failover redundancy for ring topologies common in industrial and transportation networks. Modbus/TCP support enables native SCADA and factory automation integration without external gateways. The fanless all-metal enclosure (sheet metal and aluminum) eliminates mechanical failure in dusty, vibration-heavy, or corrosive industrial environments. The DIN rail and wall mount kits are included in the package. Dimensions are 6" H x 3.6" W x 5.5" D, same physical footprint as the IE340-12GT-980. The country of origin is China and the product carries environmentally friendly certification.
Key Features
- No PoE — Non-PoE Industrial Switch — The IE340-12GT-80 does not deliver Power over Ethernet. For PoE+ capability on the IE340 platform, specify the IE340-12GP model.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Does the IE340-12GT-80 support PoE?
- No. The IE340-12GT-80 does not deliver Power over Ethernet on any port. It is a non-PoE industrial switch. If PoE+ is required, the IE340-12GP model provides 802.3at PoE+ on the copper ports of the same IE340 industrial platform.
- Q: What is the difference between the IE340-12GT and the IE340-12GP?
- The IE340-12GT (both -80 and -980 variants) has standard Gigabit Ethernet copper ports with no PoE output. The IE340-12GP provides IEEE 802.3at PoE+ power delivery on its copper ports. Both share the same industrial housing, temperature rating, and AlliedWare Plus software feature set.
- Q: What is the difference between the IE340-12GT-80 and the IE340-12GT-980?
- Both models share the IE340-12GT base hardware with identical port counts, switch capacity, and operating temperature. The -80 and -980 suffixes designate different PSU input configurations and regional variant designations. Contact Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net to confirm which suffix is correct for your specific power supply environment before purchasing.
- Q: What mounting options are available?
- The IE340-12GT-80 supports both DIN rail mounting (standard 35mm TS-35 rail) and wall mounting. Both mounting kits are included in the package at no additional cost.
- Q: Does the IE340-12GT-80 support redundant ring topologies?
- Yes. Allied Telesis EPSRing and IEEE G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection are supported, providing sub-50ms failover recovery for ring topologies used in railway, transportation, and industrial automation networks.
- Q: Can this switch integrate with SCADA systems?
- Yes. Modbus/TCP is natively supported in AlliedWare Plus, enabling direct communication with SCADA platforms and factory automation systems without requiring an external protocol gateway.
- Q: How does AMF help in remote industrial deployments?
- AMF (Autonomous Management Framework) automates configuration management across the network. If a switch fails and is replaced, AMF can automatically push the correct configuration to the replacement unit with zero manual intervention — critical for remote or unmanned industrial sites where on-site IT is not available.
