Overview
The Allied Telesis AT-SPSX/E is a TAA-compliant 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver built for Gigabit Ethernet links over multimode fiber in temperature-extreme environments. Its extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C makes it appropriate for industrial automation, outdoor enclosures, and transportation infrastructure where standard commercial optics cannot be used. Using an LC duplex connector and 850 nm wavelength, it supports link distances of 220 meters on 62.5/125 µm multimode fiber and 550 meters on 50/125 µm multimode fiber. Hot-swap capability allows transceiver replacement in the field without shutting down the host equipment.
Description
The AT-SPSX/E delivers 1 Gbps throughput over multimode fiber and fits any SFP slot conforming to the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA), ensuring broad compatibility across switching and routing platforms from Allied Telesis and other vendors. TAA compliance satisfies procurement requirements for US federal agencies and other government or institutional buyers subject to the Trade Agreements Act. The -40°C to +85°C extended temperature rating covers the full range of conditions found in industrial, outdoor, and vehicular network installations where commercial SFPs rated to 0°C–70°C would be insufficient. The 850 nm VCSEL laser source is the standard for short-reach multimode SFP optics and pairs with the most common installed base of OM1, OM2, OM3, and OM4 multimode fiber. LC duplex connectors are compatible with standard fiber patch panels and pre-terminated assemblies, reducing installation complexity. Hot-swappable insertion and removal allows live maintenance without impacting other network segments. Allied Telesis engineers and supports this transceiver natively for use with AT-series switches and routers, ensuring interoperability and access to manufacturer technical support. The AT-SPSX/E is available from Creation Networks, an authorized Allied Telesis reseller.
