Product Overview

The Allied Telesis AT-DMC100/LC-90 is a TAA-compliant standalone Fast Ethernet media converter that bridges 100Base-TX copper (RJ-45) to 100Base-FX fiber using an LC duplex connector. Part of Allied Telesis’ compact DMC series, this unit measures just 1.25” wide × 3.6” deep × 0.85” high and fits in the palm of your hand, making it ideal for desktop, shelf, or field installations. The LC connector version is specifically designed for networks cabled with LC-terminated multimode fiber — the connector type commonly found in modern structured cabling deployments and patch panels. TAA compliance qualifies this unit for federal and government procurement.

Product Description

Allied Telesis AT-DMC100/LC-90 Fast Ethernet Media Converter LC TAA

The Allied Telesis AT-DMC100/LC-90 media converter with LC fiber connector converts 100Base-TX copper Ethernet to 100Base-FX multimode fiber at up to approximately 550 meters on 50/125µm fiber, with no configuration required out of the box. The LC duplex connector — the key differentiator from the SC and ST variants in the DMC100 family — makes this unit the right choice when your fiber plant uses the small-form-factor LC connector, which is increasingly the default in modern structured cabling, data center horizontal runs, and recently installed patch panels. Auto MDI/MDI-X on the copper RJ-45 side eliminates the need for crossover cables regardless of whether you’re connecting to a switch, hub, or workstation. The Smart MissingLink (SML) feature monitors both network segments and propagates link-down state when either side loses connectivity, giving network management tools accurate fault detection. Smart Link Restoration automatically re-establishes links after power interruptions without manual reset. The unit powers from the included Micro USB to USB cable (connectable directly to a PC or laptop USB port) or via an optional AC/DC adapter. Supports 50/125µm and 62.5/125µm multimode fiber. RoHS compliant and wall-mountable using the optional AT-DMCWLMT bracket. Available from Creation Networks at creationnetworks.net.

Key Features

  • 100Base-TX to 100Base-FX/LC Conversion — Bridges copper RJ-45 and LC duplex multimode fiber at 100Mbps Fast Ethernet speeds.
  • LC Duplex Fiber Connector — Connects to LC-terminated multimode fiber; the modern connector choice for structured cabling and data center runs.
  • Auto MDI/MDI-X — Eliminates crossover cable requirements; connects to any copper device without reconfiguration.
  • Smart MissingLink (SML) — Propagates link-down state across both ports for accurate fault detection by network management tools.
  • Smart Link Restoration — Automatically restores links after power failures or interruptions without manual intervention.
  • USB or AC Power — Powers from Micro USB to USB cable (included) or optional AC/DC adapter; no dedicated circuit required.
  • TAA Compliant (FED) — Eligible for federal and government procurement under GSA Schedule and related vehicles.

Typical Applications

  • Extending 100Mbps copper Ethernet to LC-terminated multimode fiber segments
  • Connecting LC fiber patch panel ports to copper-only network equipment
  • Federal and government network installations requiring TAA-compliant media converters
  • Modern structured cabling environments where LC is the standard fiber connector
  • Desktop or field deployments where compact size and USB power simplify installation

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the AT-DMC100/LC-90, /SC-90, and /ST-90?
All three are identical 100Mbps Fast Ethernet media converters. The only difference is the fiber connector type: /LC-90 uses an LC duplex connector, /SC-90 uses an SC duplex connector, and /ST-90 uses an ST bayonet connector. Select the model that matches your existing fiber terminations.
Q: Why choose the LC variant over SC or ST?
LC connectors are the standard in modern structured cabling systems and most recently installed fiber patch panels. If your fiber infrastructure was installed in the last 10-15 years, it is most likely LC-terminated, making the /LC-90 the natural fit.
Q: Does this converter require any configuration?
No. The AT-DMC100/LC-90 is plug-and-play with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDI-X on the copper port. Connect the cables and it operates immediately.
Q: Can it be wall-mounted?
Yes. The unit is compatible with the optional AT-DMCWLMT wall-mount bracket (sold separately).
Q: Does the converter pass IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tags transparently?
Yes. The DMC100/LC-90 is fully transparent to 802.1Q VLAN-tagged packets, ensuring compatibility with modern managed switch infrastructure.
