Product Overview
The Adder XD-C650P-DP-US is the AdderLink XD C650 KVM extender pair, a high-resolution quad-head DisplayPort KVM extender that transmits video, transparent full-speed USB 2.0, and audio over a single CATx or fiber cable. Supporting four 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz displays via DisplayPort 1.2 Multi-Stream Transport or a single 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz (DCI 4K60) display, this multi-monitor KVM extension solution keeps critical computers in a secure equipment room while the operator works up to 100 m away over CAT6 or up to 4 km over optical fiber. The US suffix denotes US mains cables for both units.
Product Description
Developed for enterprise organizations and high-pressure control rooms, the XD C650 uses a low-latency point-to-point extension protocol that works the moment it is connected — no network configuration, drivers, or software. The transmitter takes a single DisplayPort 1.2 input from the host and, using MST technology, the receiver fans the signal out to up to four DisplayPort displays, preserving the operator's multi-monitor desktop across the link.

USB handling combines two approaches: True Emulation ports keep keyboards and mice responsive with instant availability, while a transparent USB 2.0 port supports a wider device range including mass storage, webcams, and USB audio headsets. The receiver provides three True Emulation USB-A ports plus one transparent port. Bi-directional analog audio (24-bit/96 kHz) runs alongside two channels of 24-bit/192 kHz PCM digital audio over the DisplayPort connection, and an RS232 serial channel passes between the units at up to 115,200 baud with RTS/CTS flow control for peripheral and device control.
Both units offer an RJ45 port for CATx runs to 100 m and an SFP+ cage for fiber links to 4 km (SFP modules sold separately), letting integrators match the link to the cabling plant. EDID management passes true monitor characteristics back to the host for correct video output without manual configuration. Compact metal enclosures suit desk, shelf, or rack-tray mounting. For a dual-head 4K60 alternative in the same family, see the AdderLink XD642 extender pair, or browse the full Adder Technology collection at Creation Networks.
Key Features
- Quad-Head HD60 or Single 4K60 — Drives four 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz displays via DisplayPort 1.2 MST, or one 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz (DCI 4K60) display.
- Single-Cable Extension — Video, USB 2.0, audio, and serial travel together over one CATx or fiber link for clean installations.
- Up to 4 km Reach — 100 m over CAT6 copper or up to 4 km over optical fiber via the SFP+ cage (modules sold separately).
- Transparent Plus Emulated USB 2.0 — True Emulation for instant HID response, plus a transparent port for mass storage, webcams, and USB headsets.
- Low-Latency Plug and Play — Point-to-point protocol with no network setup, drivers, or software required.
- Digital and Analog Audio — Two channels of 24-bit/192 kHz PCM over DisplayPort plus bi-directional 24-bit/96 kHz analog stereo with headphone output at the receiver.
- RS232 Pass-Through — Serial channel to 115,200 baud with RTS/CTS flow control for controlling external devices.
- EDID Management — Monitor capabilities pass back to the host for optimum compatibility.
Typical Applications
- Broadcast studio multi-monitor operator positions with racked host machines
- Government space control desks requiring quad-display extension over secure point-to-point links
- Auditorium and all-hands room presentation systems with remote source PCs
- Training room instructor stations driving multiple displays from an equipment closet

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the host computer need four video outputs?
No. The transmitter takes a single DisplayPort 1.2 connection and uses Multi-Stream Transport (MST) to deliver up to four displays at the receiver, provided the host GPU supports MST.
What is needed for the fiber option?
Each unit has an SFP+ cage; fiber SFP modules are sold separately. Fiber links reach up to 4 km, while CAT6 copper supports up to 100 m.
Can I use webcams, headsets, or USB drives across the link?
Yes. The transparent USB 2.0 port supports mass storage and isochronous devices such as webcams and USB audio headsets, in addition to the emulated HID ports for keyboard and mouse.
Is any software or network configuration required?
No. The XD C650 is a point-to-point extender that is operational as soon as it is cabled; no drivers, software, or network setup is needed.
How does it differ from the XD642?
The XD C650 prioritizes quad-head HD60 (or single 4K60) from one host DisplayPort connection, while the XD642 pair delivers dual-head 4K60 using two DisplayPort inputs.
What operating systems are supported?
All known operating systems; the extender is transparent to the host.
