The Adder PSU-RPS-5V-3M is a 12V to 5V DC power converter dongle that lets 5V Adder devices draw power from the Adder RED-PSU rack power supply. With a 3 metre (approximately 10 ft) cable, this RED-PSU converter dongle gives integrators the reach needed to position powered devices away from the rack power shelf. It is the correct Adder KVM power accessory whenever a 5V unit must be connected to the 12V outputs of a RED-PSU system, converting the voltage while maintaining a secure, locking connection.
Product Description
Adder RED-PSU rack power supplies deliver 12V DC from their output ports, but several Adder devices operate on 5V DC. Connecting one of those devices requires a converter dongle that both links the RED-PSU port to the device and transforms the voltage level. The PSU-RPS-5V-3M performs exactly that role: it plugs into a RED-PSU output via a locking Kycon 3-pin connector and delivers regulated 5V DC to the device through a 2.5mm power jack.
The 3 metre cable length is the extended option in the converter dongle range, suited to installations where the powered device sits in a different part of the rack — or an adjacent bay — from the RED-PSU shelf. The locking Kycon connector resists accidental disconnection during cable dressing and rack maintenance, an important consideration for centralized power architectures intended to remove single points of failure. This dongle is designed for use with Adder RED-PSU rack power systems only; it is not a general-purpose 12V to 5V adapter.
